Two weeks after waiving Amobi Okoye, the Bears are bringing him back. Again.
The Chicago Bears have re-signed defensive tackle Amobi Okoye, fifteen days after sending him packing. This marks the third stint with the Bears, albeit the second one didn't really count.
Let's take a look at Okoye's NFL calendar:
July 26, 2007: Signed five-year rookie contract with Houston Texans after being drafted at 19 years old
July 30, 2011: Released by Houston after four seasons.
July 31, 2011: Signed one-year deal with Chicago Bears
April 8, 2012: Signed by Tampa Bay Buccaneers
August 31, 2012: Released by Tampa Bay
September 1, 2012: Re-signed by Chicago in one-year deal
November 27, 2012: Waived by Chicago
Today (Dec. 12): Re-signed to one year deal by Chicago
Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune wonders if this move could have something to do with defensive tackle Stephen Paea's injury (foot), which kept him out last week versus the Minnesota Vikings.
The Bears just can't quit Amobi. Stay tuned...
