Brian Urlacher could return on Sunday after missing the previous three games.

Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher could return for the season finale against Detroit after testing his injured hamstring prior to Sunday's game.

Urlacher missed the last three games due to the hamstring injury, but Bears head coach Lovie Smith said there is a chance Urlacher could return this week. Smith said Urlacher has made a lot of improvement. The 34-year-old linebacker went through roughly a 30-minute workout on Sunday, testing his hamstring with team trainers in a variety of drills.

While Smith said replacement Nick Roach has played well in Urlacher's absence, getting Urlacher back would be a big boost for the Bears. Chicago is still alive in the NFC playoff picture, but must knock off the Detroit Lions on Sunday. If Chicago wins and the Green Bay Packers defeat the Minnesota Vikings, the Bears would make the playoffs as the last NFC Wild Card.

Urlacher may not have played up to his previous level this season, but is still tied for third on the team in total tackles. He leads the Bears with eight tackles for loss.
