Chicago Bears sign Safety Troy Nolan

The Chicago Bears added to their depleted safety depth by signing Troy Nolan.

The Chicago Bears have been battling some injury issues of late, and the latest position to take a hit is safety. With the status of starting free safety Chris Conte still up in the air, the Bears have added former Houston Texans seventh round draft pick Troy Nolan.

Nolan, 6'2" 202, has appeared in 37 games including 7 starts. His scouting report out of Arizona State labeled him as a ball hawking, heavy hitting, free safety that can get out of position on occasion due to over aggressiveness. It was also reported that he plays faster that his timed speeds. Here are his combine numbers from Wiki;

Nolan ran the 40-yard dash in 4.65 seconds. He had twelve reps in the bench press and had a 31.5-inch vertical leap. He had a broad jump distance of 117 inches, and ran the 3-cone drill in 7.07 seconds. He ran the 20-yard shuttle in 4.3 seconds.

He was waived by Houston on November 17th, but he did start for them in their game against Packers.

The Bears had a roster spot open after cutting Dane Sanzenbacher earlier this week.

Stay tuned to WCG for any other roster moves...
