Who would you like to see the Bears hire as passing game coordinator?
We're not gonna put this to a poll, as the candidates seem to change daily, but who would you like the Bears to hire to work with the Bears quarterbacks? New offensive coordinator Mike Tice and head coach Lovie Smith are looking for a passing game coordinator / QB coach to add to the staff. New GM Phil Emery will no doubt assist in the search.

I'm starting to dislike the split in OC duties.
I dunno how that can work well.
I don’t know if any NFL team already employs that kind of dynamic.
But the Bears are starting to resemble the Dolphins when it comes to coaches wanting to come here.
Maybe someone from the Saints staff would be really really nice. Joe Lombardi or Aaron Kromer.
Dream candidate being Tom Clements.

Good thing is that the Packers cannot deny us the opportunity do interview Clements again.

Last I heard
packers were going to name clements OC and give him more input into the offense…..So doubt he would want to come to Chicago…..

with Haley possibly goin to pitt
maybe we go after the dude up north? I’d like to see Haley but you never know, but i’d like to see and Passing guy stay long term. imo
I am with ECD
They should put a lot of effort into Fisch and been done with it…..
Now this thing will drag out and look bad (no one wants to work here with lame duck coach etc etc) because they cant seem to name someone quickly…..Something with OLine coach….

Totally bummed that
the last two guys who had a lot of potential but were denied/went somewhere else.
Jim Zorn could make a difference in Cutler’s career so would Jim Caldwell. Specially because Caldwell spent his life teaching WR/QBs in an air coryell system.
Last time we tried Ken Zampese, who did a good job with Andy Dalton.
Dowel Loggains was denied to us by the Titans, could’ve been the IT guy. Jake Locker could be beastly under him. (A guy who reminds me A LOT of Cutler)
Mike Sullivan from the Giants could be cool. He’s been doing a terrific job with Eli the past couple of years.
Honesly, i’d like someone from the Holmgren coaching tree. They always seem to do a great job with Quarterbacks.

Todd Haley.
And be done with it. Put Mike Tice on butt-whipping duty for when he gets out of hand. But the guy can coach a passing offense. And he’s both from KC and a former Bear, just like our current GM. GET ER DONE!!!
Problem is his new position in Pitt is much more enticing than in Chicago.

From what I've heard, he hasn't been offered yet.
As long as he hasn’t been offered a contract, there’s still hope.
It's just Offensive Coordinator.
But that is better than Quarterbacks/Passing game coordinator;

I forgot Haley was a QB coach before
I guess he forgot all about that part of the game when he coached KC.
He was a WR coach with the Bears.
Produced the last 100 catch season on the Bears. And the first one in, what, two decades before that?
At this point I'll take whomever Jay Cutler wants & will work well with , period .

I like this idea.
Bearsh!tt!n It ain't obscene- I'm a Bears fan that likes hittin and exclamation points.
Hire Cutler... he's the entire friggin offense anyway.

No he hasn't.
I know it’s fun to complain, but you’re wrong.

Their W-L record and abysmal offensive efforts without him is proof.
He IS the offense. There are no playmakers around him other than Forte. And the RB position continued to produce without Forte on the field.

Huh?

All three comments contradict each other. Either Forte is part of the offense or he isn’t. And either the other RBs produced as playmakers like Forte, or they didn’t.

Nope. It's more like the RB position in the NFL is very interchangable.
Unless you have elite players at the position… most RBs are very replaceable. And, it’s exactly why Forte hasn’t gotten paid on a new contract.
Cutler IS the Bears offense. He’s surrounded with a pile of dung. You’d be very hard pressed to find another team in the NFL who would insert any of our WRs or TEs as a starter in their lineup.

So, what you're saying is...
Even though Forte had almost 1,500 yards from scrimmage, and accounted for 37.7% of the entire offense, and did so in just 11.25 games last year, that he’s just a “very replaceable” pog. Forget that he’s been the majority of the Bears offense for the past few seasons.
And surprising, I know, but I disagree about some of our WRs. Earl Bennett is definitely not a “pile of dung”.

Not everybody can hand the game away like Marion Barber!
Above all; keep 'em guessing, never let them lose their sense of confusion.
If we had any other skill position players worth a crap
Forte wouldn’t have to carry that burden. Our offense is all Cutler. He’s made sparkling champagne out of a bunch of lemons, and he targets Forte in the passing game, because he has no WRs. You’ve seen what happens the past two seasons when he’s not on the field. He’s the diamond sitting on top of the landfill known as the Chicago Bears offense.
If he hadn’t got hurt, he would have led this team to the postseason with or without Forte.
I’m not saying Forte is an average player. Just that his production is much, much more easy to replace than Cutler. And, it was proven during Forte’s absence as Barber and Bell each had very productive performances.

You can't say that our Cutler is our "entire" offense
solely because they didn’t have a quality backup quarterback behind him.
And since we’re speaking in hypotheticals, I’m gonna go with with Forte healthy, he would have led us to the postseason, with or without Cutler. Or with Jeff Garcia, we could have won a ring this year. Or if I had only shaved this morning, my boss would have given me stock options.

this isn't a new thing
Teams do it… All this tells me is that come practice time, Tice would be working more with the blocking schemes in the run game, the pass blocking calls for his line, and he’ll leave the route combinations and execution of the QB to that coach. He’s still calling the plays, he’s just coaching in his comfort zone.

And that says something about his *cough* maturity level.
I’d rather have two people who understand their role and can execute them well than one person who doesn’t know how to do both..
Five foot three seems to thrive on his misery...

That's how I feel
If he can’t coordinate a passing attack doesn’t that make him unqualified to be an offensive coordinator?

Someone who has a history
of developing QBs. Jed Fisch would be nice, so would Clements. Both are probably a pipe dream at this point.

Peyton Manning, but in reality, Jon Gruden, pay him a nice salary, and maybe make him the HC if Lovie fails to make it to a Championship game

A pass-happy coordinator from the college ranks
Get somebody from one of those pass-happy spread offense college teams. Long-term, it would be better than another of these failed retreads from the pro ranks.
Jim Tressel?
Got passed over by the Colts for the HC job, and I don’t think he’s hireable in the college ranks. (5 year show-cause penalty) Just spitballing, but he seemed to adapt to his personnel pretty well and his coaching background seems to be on the offensive side of the ball. I know he accepted a non-athletic department position at U of Akron, but I have to think being in the game would be his preference.
