Another tackle with injury issues?
Missed a bunch of games early on with foot and knee troubles….
Rookie tackles picked outside of the top 10 (12? Clady) almost always struggle early on. IMO, if the Bears are going to draft an immediate difference maker at #19, it will come at either WR, TE, or possibly DE. If you’re looking outside of those three positions for BPA, fine, but that BPA better have a good shot at being a longterm foundation piece. An injury history seems like a major red flag when there are talented, lower risk guys available.
All of that is true regarding how rookie OL in general tend to have speed bumps during development
Also, I feel there are respectable options later in the draft this year. I’ve already pointed out Matt Reynolds in my mock draft, and I’m certain there are more quality players to be had.

I would be okay if Mike Adams was our 1st round pick
Nothing to get overly excited about, though. He has the raw talent to be a successful starter at LT, but, he also needs a good amount of coaching with his technique in pass pro. Some would say he’s better suited as a RT in the NFL. I think Mike Tice can coach him into a fine LT, yet I wouldn’t hold my breath.
If you ask me, the Bears ought to get more “adventurous” with their 1st rounder and go for someone like Michael Floyd, Dre Kirkpatrick, or perhaps grab Dwayne Allen who is the best TE in the draft. A DE could work as well, basically this draft has to compliment whatever Phil Emery does in FA. An OL would be alright, but if the Bears want an immediate impact, then I feel it’s high time that the Bears take a risk and go for a true playmaker on either side of the ball.

Yes, he played good in one game but that doesnt erase
four seasons worth of incosistency. Lots of guys play great in All Star games but that doesnt mean they’re gonna be that good at the next level (look at Leonard Hankerson last year).
Hankerson actually beasted it in his only start and then proceeded to land on IR lol

He faced superior talent and excelled
He, Matt Kalil, and Martin are the only real LT prospects that could come in and start day 1 (I don’t mention Riley Reiff because he’s more suited to switching to the right side) .
He has all the abilities and intangibles to be a starting LT in the league. Mike Adams will go in the top 20 on draft day , i guarantee it.

You want to see him face top talent nearly every game.
I would be looking for those who had to face Alabama and LSU yearly. That gives two opportunities at least to face elite level talent in DE and DT’s. I hate the SEC, but they do have a ton of great pass rushers.

?
That has nothing to do with my comment.
He played in the Big Ten.
there were some fierce pass rushers this year in the 10

Just curious
How well did he do against all of those players? If he did well against them, then I wouldn’t mind taking Adams at all. But, if those were his worst games…

Looked great in the run game
But seemed to struggle a bit in pass pro. The effort wasn’t consistent after the initial rush. I agree with Erik about getting a playmaker on offense. I’m starting to like Floyd a lot after reading some of his quotes. He’s got ridiculously good hands for such a big man. I’d rather the Bears go after Finley than draft one, but I’d be ok with Allen.

I would want Floyd AND Bowe.
To give Cutler as many weapons as possible and have Forte come out of the backfield.
Opposing D’s would HAVE to respect the possibilities of the draw for every pass, as well as a play action for every run.
Sucks to be them.

Cutty is drooling
Of a potent tandem like that. Forte would be even better. Hard to imagine Bowe not being tagged, but we’ll see soon!

They either Tag him or Brandon Carr right?

Tru dat
Carr is a stud, but I’m not sure Lovie and Emery wouldn’t just draft a CB.

I'm thinking the Chiefs, having a defensive minded HC
will look to retain Carr over Bowe

It could go either way
Rather, it may all depend on the value of the player. I think Dwayne Bowe has a greater value to the Chiefs than Brandon Carr does, given how Bowe is their top weapon on offense compared to Carr being the second best CB on the team with Brandon Flowers being their best coverage guy.

Here's the thing
Bowe may not want to waist the best years of his career on a team that’s stuck in the bottom 10. He may want to test FA to see if he can get big money from a team that has a chance to win now

Last I read
The Bears, prior to the Emery hiring, made it known to “Moon” that they will search for CBs in FA. Seeing how Emery was with the Chiefs these past couple years, I can see Brandon Carr becoming a Bear.

Blitz recognition?
At 5:26 in the vid, Florida blitzed and two defenders ran right by him on either side, he got a block on neither.
Still, he seemed to do a commanding job of overpowering the DE that came at him most of the time, and some good out front run blocking.
"And furthermore, I think Carthage must be destroyed."
Considering we just got a beast of a run blocker...
I prefer someone who is skilled in pass blocking on the left side.

Any Left Tackle left at #19 will be leftovers.
WR would be ok, There’s a Guard or two that might be worth it, and I’d trade up for Richardson if he gets anywhere close. But I have a hard time figuring out how a TE would be worth a 1st rounder, I could be wrong about this.
But what I really want is defense. Eight years ago was the last time the Chicago Bears used a 1st round pick on defense. I think it’s time.
Bearsh!tt!n It ain't obscene- I'm a Bears fan that likes hittin and exclamation points.
You could argue that the WR position needs a more immediate upgrade.
As in, it would be better served by FA. A real WR with real NFL experience would be great. And maybe a complimentary piece in the 2nd or 3rd round… and like I said above, I would be ok w/ WR in the 1st round, too. But man, 8 years in the NFL is a long long time. I’d love to see a young legitimate game-changer added to this defense, especially when taking into consideration the other offenses that play in the NFC north.

DE or CB
I think if the Bears want to draft a S or LB at #19, they should trade down. Those are the only two defensive positions worthy of that spot IMO.

Not real sure about his...
ability to be a LT out of the gates as a 1st round guy. He’s probably better suited to RT. If the Bears think Carimi can be the LT of the future, Adams would be an OK competition at RT with Webb. He’s got some raw talent, but he’s got way too many flaws in his technique and footwork to be a starter at LT in 2012. I would hope the Bears find a better shot at a starter in the first round, say WR or DE or DB or even OG.
There's a fine line between stupid...and clever!
I agree with this
With Tice at the controls, they’ll be more conservative in their blocking schemes. Adams may not be worth the spot. BPA at WR, CB or DE would be a wise move.

I also agree with LISTL
But I don’t think they’ll take a corner in the first as long as Lovie is coach. I’ve heard it said before that Tampa 2 teams put a very low priority on cover corners. They instead focus on good tackling corners with good read and react skills (so to keep the play in front of them and minimize big plays). They then acquire elite playmakers along the D-Line that can preside QB’S and hide the flaws in the DB’s. This makes a lot of sense when you look at how the team has drafted CB’s. I could be wrong but off the top of my head I can only remember them drafting one in the first 3 rounds since Lovie has been here.

I Don't
Simply because Tice has been clear about his belief that Carimi can be great at RT. Tice also stated that without any drastic moves, that Webb will be what he has at LT to work with.
One vote for drastic moves.
Make that 2 votes...
I see Webb as a career back-up who has proven he is not a starter at both right and left tackle.
There's a fine line between stupid...and clever!
*Correction
The earliest the Bears have drafted since Lovie Smith has been coach is the 4th round- DJ Moore and Nathan Vasher.

You're correct about the scheme
And Lovie’s propensity to wait to draft corners. I guess I’m being optimistic that Emery will put a great emphasis on the position. I’d imagine if Kirkpatrick falls to 19 they’d take a long, hard look at him, but I doubt he lasts that long.

He looks like J'MArcus Webb II waiting to happen.
Any pass pro shown here is all patty cake blocks, no pancakes … and what happens when he comes up against speed rushers? No way. Konz or Burfict, period.
