haha, i think if anyone watched cutty this yr they would def say he can win the SB

i want him to mentioned along the likes of drew brees and rodgers by the end of his career.

Because everyone else is jumping on Cutty's bandwagon

Since our epic collapse (when we went into the crapper after he broke his thumb). Dilfer doesn’t want to continue to look like a fool by dissing Cutler. Because it was so obvious by the dramatic drop-off after Jay wasn’t in the line-up that he had been carrying the offense and hiding how poor our pass-blocking and WRs are.

by JimmyMack on Feb 6, 2012 9:26 AM CST up reply actions

Part of the insane narrative.

by awfullyquiet on Feb 6, 2012 9:50 AM CST up reply actions

His true hatred would be exposed because only a real hater would continue dissing Cutler at this point.

Hey Rose. I don't see the appeal!

by Dils on Feb 6, 2012 11:01 AM CST up reply actions

Yeah Cutty definitely made the Bears offense actually look like an offense. Yeah he wasn't putting up record-breaking numbers but who would if they were given chicken-scratch to work with?

The line sucked at pass-protection but Cutty’s line isn’t the only one that sucks. To me the biggest difference is his lack of receiving help. He has solid (Bennett) to below-average (Williams) receivers and no receiving TE’s. Once that is fixed Cutty will be putting up some big numbers.

by frenchbears113 on Feb 6, 2012 9:43 AM CST up reply actions

Here is my (revised) idea to fix that problem

Sign Marques Colston in FA (yes, I’m now on that bandwagon), then draft Malcom Floyd in the 1st round, given he will be there by 19th overall. Honestly, I feel the OL will improve given that far less of those absurd 7 step drops shall be called in the passing game, and that there will be more plays designed to have Cutler roll-out and set up a moving pocket, something our OL can effectively do given their overall athleticism as a unit.

With Marques Colston and Malcom Floyd as the #1 and #2, with Earl Bennett in the slot, I think that receiving corps would have an extremely high ceiling to say the least.

Jay Cutler is our QB, and I for one am proud of that

by Erik Christopher Duerrwaechter on Feb 6, 2012 9:58 AM CST up reply actions

It's Michael Floyd!

I like Colston but if Bowe can be had then I think they should go after him. He’s a lot more durable than Colston is and if the team is going to shill out money to a WR then he better be durable lol.

Also I still think the line can use an upgrade so they should draft some depth, especially at the OT position.

by frenchbears113 on Feb 6, 2012 10:06 AM CST up reply actions

[Facepalm]

I feel Marques Colston is better, because even when hurt, he’s been more productive than Dwayne Bowe. I also have a suspicious feeling the Chiefs may tag him. Also, yes, Colston hasn’t finished all 16 games in the past 2 years, but he still finished at least 14 games. He’s been getting healthier as the years go. Just ask Charles Tillman, who some felt wasn’t durable enough until he finished all 16 games these past 2 seasons.

Jay Cutler is our QB, and I for one am proud of that

by Erik Christopher Duerrwaechter on Feb 6, 2012 10:15 AM CST up reply actions

Dude Colston plays in an extremely pass-heavy offense so his numbers are going to be big.

Bowe has played with crap his entire career yet consistently puts up big numbers. Imagine him with an ACTUAL QB who can throw the rock with the best of them.

by frenchbears113 on Feb 6, 2012 10:20 AM CST up reply actions

Hmm...true

I will say this, the Chiefs ran the ball far more often than passing it. Yet, the Saints were pretty balanced themselves. I would be happy with either receiver coming in as the #1.

True, Bowe hasn’t truly had a real QB, let alone one as talented as Cutler, but, the drops are what has me worried. Granted, he’s dropped fewer passes recently, but the drops are still there. And personally, I also like Colston’s speed.

Here's another nugget of thought.

Look at a few years ago, when Colston was in his second year, when Brees was good, but every other piece of talent was really unproven (meachem, devery henderson et al.) he was good. He was really good. Really good. Good enough to make the Saints look pretty much amazing.

Give Colston to the Bears, Replace Brees with Cutler, and draft Floyd (Yeah, I’m getting more comfortable with the Idea… I’d still take Sanu if possible but, whatever)… You have not only a legitimate #1 target in Colston, but, have a positive passer, with a receiver who’s nothing if not consistent in all phases of his game, and making Bennett the #2, Knox, Floyd the #3/#4 and you’re in good shape.

When I look at Bowe, I see the upside. I do. I see that Emery might see that too, but, there’s a massive hole in his game, he disappears, but absolutely has the greater upside. He thrives on eating up mediocre cornerbacks.

Colston though, may not have the upside, he may not have the massive game, but we need the consistency that he’d bring.

Five foot three seems to thrive on his misery...

Not sure why people are saying he disappears

Link

As you can see he only had 2 technically bad games

but he had multiple 100 yard games and consistently put up 60-70 yard games

I’ll take Bowe because Colston misses a lot of games, Bowe is a whole year younger, and not to mention puts up elite numbers without having any QB talent at all

Okay Phil Emery

You’ve seen a team with a similar philosophy that’s comparable to the Bears’ win the Super Bowl last night. You saw that if this team wants to contend with the rest of the powerhouses, then we need receivers. And plenty of good WRs are available this year, both in the draft and FA. Phil Emery, as the new Bears’ GM, it’s now time to go to work. Phil Emery, get us some playmakers!

by JimmyMack on Feb 6, 2012 9:30 AM CST up reply actions

Not only did the Giants outplay the Pats

I feel they flat out wanted the championship more than the Pats did. There were some inexcusable mistakes, including dropped key passes and that 12 men on the field play where they received a much needed gift in a fumble, but have it taken away because they couldn’t get lined up properly on defense. Far too many missed opportunities for the Pats last night. If you’re a championship caliber team, you don’t make those mistakes.

by Erik Christopher Duerrwaechter on Feb 6, 2012 9:51 AM CST up reply actions

But they didn't.

And so it actually does matter.

But then, I can point to about five or six mistakes the Giants made through the game that would have led to a bigger Giants victory had they not been made, including a the Manningham drop and the drive killing penalties. Had those mistakes not been made, nobody would be talking about a Welker drop…..

Oh, and can we dispense with the “Welker never drops” stuff, Mr Collinsworth? The guy dropped 26 passes in the last two seasons. It’s not like he can’t be trusted, but it’s also not like he isn’t prone to almost one per game.

Seems a little extreme.

Did you have money on the Pats or something? Cause Branch’s “drop” will not register as a drop, nor does it qualify. The ball was batted away. Its not like he just pulled a Welker, there was outside interference from Phillips, or does good defensive play not actually deserve recognition?

You forgot about the lucky bounces on the fumbles as well .....

Luck is for losers.

Manningham had a drop in the game that killed a Giants drive. Two Giants drives were killed by stupid penalties. By the measures you are using, the Pats got lucky in not losing by three more scores.

There is nothing saying that if Welker makes that catch that the Pats score a TD. In fact, considering the way the Giants defense played, there is better reason t believe that the drive ends in three at best.

The Giants beat the Packers. I don’t buy the rust argument, and if two weeks off is enough to change Rodgers play that much, then he’s got problems. Why doesn’t the Giants defense deserve any credit?

Oh, I rememeber….defense doesn’t win championships any more. If the defense does a good job it’s because the offenses fault, not the defenses credit. Yes, Welker dropped a pass. Yes Hernandez dropped one two. What about the rest of the game?

Giants won the game and deserved it.

Just didn't think

That the whole “Luck is for losers” thing from you…I mean c’mon watching their playoff games while they do deserve to win, they have to have some kind of luck involved even just a wee bit…(And yeah, I said wee bit) lol

Please, by all means, show your true colors, folk of Boston.

As someone who lived in Boston for a long period of time.

I’m not surprised. At all.

Five foot three seems to thrive on his misery...

Still not as bad as those a-holes that burned Cutty's jersey because they thought he "quit" on the team.

Those same people were calling for Hanie to be made the starter and for Cutler to be cut. Funny looking back on it now seeing as those same people were most likely praying for Cutty to come back and Hanie to go back to the bench. When I see Pats fans clamoring for Hoyer or Mallett than I think they’d be on par with Chicago’s meatball community lol

It's really gotten worse for them over the past ten years.

Boston was a city who hasn’t won anything relevant since the early 70’s. Ever since like, the patriots won, and the bosox won, and the celtics came back to relevance… If you’re not winning everything, you’re just another loser.

It’s a hard level to maintain.

Still get’s his share of the losers money ($44K) and would have gotten a rign and the winners share ($88K) if they had won. All that he missed was actually playing in it.
