Israel Idonije returns to the team on a one-year contract. Fans and Bears rejoice!
Bears veteran free agent DE Israel Idonije has agreed to terms on a one-year contract, according to the team website.
The news comes on the same day that the Bears, touted by many as being one of the leading contenders for Mario Williams' services, lost out to the Bills.
Although the team are seeking to improve the pass rush, which ranked 28th in sacks per pass play last season, Idonije has been an unheralded cog in the Bears' defense and contributed heavily on special teams. The return of a popular and versatile player keeps the DE depth strong and, if necessary, provides options should the Bears be unable to retain free agent DT Amobi Okoye.
