The words "Extremely Close" quoted above aren't my words - hence why they're in quotations. Those words belong to a "source with knowledge of the situation." As in...
The Chicago Bears running back is "extremely close" to a long-term deal with the team, a source with knowledge of the situation told NFL Network's Michael Lombardi on Saturday.
And just the other day, CBS's Jason LaCanfora had said that Forte and the Bears had made "considerable progress" with regards to a long-term deal.
Either way, the Bears and Forte are "extremely close" to something, all right. These things have a way of working themselves out as the teams and players get "extremely close" to the looming 3 PM CT deadline for a long-term deal to be worked out. This time, will it result in a deal for Forte within the remaining 28 hours, or will he have to play under the tag?
Stay tuned...
