The Bears have added another name to their coaching search, as they've requested and received permission to talk to Texans offensive coordinator Rick Dennison.
And the list keeps on growing.
According to Adam Schefter, the Bears have asked for and received permission to talk to Houston Texans offensive coordinator Rick Dennison about their head coaching vacancy.
Dennison has a couple things in his favor - under Dennison, Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall had their best season together in Denver in 2008; two seasons ago he was a finalist for the Broncos' head coaching job that eventually went to former Panthers head coach John Fox; and Dennison's current offenses in Houston are pretty good, particularly based around the power run game and play action.
That by my count makes eleven head coaching candidates for the Bears, eight of whom have interviewed already, with Mike McCoy's interview today and Marc Trestman's interview scheduled for tomorrow. The Bears' plan is to bring two finalists to Halas Hall later this week for second interviews.
Dennison's name is one that I'm a little more surprised that it hasn't come up yet in connection to the Bears' vacancy given the 2008 Cutler Connection and the organization's seeming desire to completely bring the band back together, but there it is, and it's not a bad one. What are your thoughts on Dennison?
