Chicago Bears Injury Update: D.J. Williams has a ruptured left pectoral, out for the season

Justin K. Aller

The injuries keep piling up for the Chicago Bears defense. The latest is a pectoral injury to starting middle linebacker D.J. Williams that will sideline him for the rest of the season.

The bad news continues to trickle through the Chicago Bears defense this season. Already without defensive back Kelvin Hayden, and defensive tackles Henry Melton and Nate Collins, the Bears may now be without their starting middle linebacker.

Linebacker D.J. Williams started the season slow after suffering a preseason injury, but he's come on of late, and he provides a veteran presence in the middle of the Bears D. The next man up at the mike backer spot for the Bears is rookie Jon Bostic.

Bostic received his first defensive snaps last night in place of the injured Williams, and Lance Briggs said the rookie played "well".

"He got in and got his nose in it. He found out that some of the stuff you see in practice or the preseason is a little bit different on the field. But Bostic is going to be big next week."

Starting strong side outside linebacker James Anderson left the game with a back injury, but Marc Trestman called it "nothing serious".

Corner Charles Tillman is also expected to be ready to go on October 20th against the Washington Redskins.

Stay tuned to Windy City Gridiron for more info as it breaks.

EDIT: That sure was a fast 24 hours...
