Brandon Marshall fined $10,500 for his lime green shoes

SL

Brandon Marshall wore lime green shoes for a cause, and he'll gladly pay the fine from the NFL's Uniform Police.

Maybe you think it was selfish for Brandon Marshall to publicly complain about his lack of chances the last couple weeks. Maybe you think Marshall was just looking for attention. Maybe you feel that him wearing green shoes was just another prima donna move by a diva wide receiver.

You are entitled to your opinion, but so am I. If you think that way, you're thinking wrong.

Brandon Marshall is a competitor, and I expect someone of his stature to want the ball every time a pass play is called. Had Marshall simply bitched and groaned about his lack of opportunity after the loss to the Saints, then I would have sided with those calling him selfish, but he also took time to praise his teammate Alshon Jeffery.

It's OK for a player to be frustrated after a couple loses.

Some are pointing to his complaining as the sole reason his targets went up against the Giants on Thursday Night Football. That may have been a small part of it, but New York was leaving Marshall open. They were even rolling some extra coverage to Jeffery. If a defense is going to cover Brandon Marshall one on one, that places the odds in the Bears' favor.

Whoa, I went off on a bit of a tangent there.

Back to the message at hand.

Here's Marshall's tweet about his fine, and the accompanying picture of the letter he received from the NFL.

The Brandon Marshall Foundation is devoted to helping people cope with mental illness. he's not only raising awareness, but raising money. The lime green shoes he wore on Thursday, are being auctioned off to raise money for his cause.

According to his website, the bidding as of Sunday was at $2100. If you watched the TNF post game show, you saw the lime green ties they are selling, and his website is also selling lime green t-shirts.
