There have been 11 games played this season between the New York Giants and Minnesota Vikings, with only one total victory between both clubs.
The 0-6 Giants play host to the 1-4 Vikings, with newly-signed quarterback Josh Freeman getting his first start for Minnesota. Freeman joined the Vikings only two weeks ago after a very public, and borderline bizarre, exit from Tampa Bay. He was signed to a one-year contract with Minnesota.
A quick look at the current NFC North standings...
Green Bay Packers 4-2 (next week @ Minnesota)
Detroit Lions 4-3 (vs. Dallas)
Chicago Bears 4-3 (Bye)
Minnesota Vikings 1-4
After starting the season 1-2, the Packers picked up some momentum after their Week 4 Bye, and have won three straight games. With injuries sidelining both Jay Cutler and Lance Briggs for at least the next four weeks, it might be tough for the Chicago Bears to keep pace.
But, we won't put the cart too far ahead of the horse, and tonight will focus on Freeman in his first start for Minnesota (which by the way, I think is a very good pickup for the Vikes), along with all-universe running back Adrian Peterson, in a battle to try and at least put a blip on the radar of the NFC North.
This is your Monday Night Football Open Thread... Have fun!
