Aaron Rodgers injury update: Packers QB returns to face Chicago Bears

Mike McGinnis

The Green Bay Packers confirmed Thursday afternoon that their starting QB will be back on the field after missing the last several weeks with a fractured collarbone.

The last time Aaron Rodgers played in a football game, it was Week 9 versus the Chicago Bears.  In that game, Rodgers was sacked by Bears DE Shea McClellin on the opening drive, and was originally expected to miss about three weeks.

That three weeks turned into nearly two months, but the team announced this afternoon that Rodgers is finally good to go, and will return to action for the Week 17 showdown against Chicago at Soldier Field.

The winner of this game will claim the NFC North title, and the 3rd/4th seed (depending on other games) for the NFC in the 2013 playoffs.

Despite the possibility of showing up to Soldier Field this Sunday a bit rusty, Rodgers has had significant success against Chicago, posting an 8-2 regular season record against the Bears, not to mention that 2010 NFC Championship victory.  You can bet the Bears brass would have preferred to see backup Matt Flynn for just one more week...

Will Rodgers be a game-changer this weekend for Green Bay?  Stay tuned...
