2013 NFL Draft: Kentucky G Larry Warford

Kim Klement-US PRESSWIRE

We haven't discussed the interior of the offensive line lately; we're looking at Kentucky guard Larry Warford. Does he fit for the Bears?

It's been entirely too long since we've looked at the offensive line or the tight ends, so this time, we're going to go back to the interior of the offensive line and bring up Larry Warford, Kentucky's offensive guard. Part of how Warford's draft stock rose to this point is in his accolades - he was SEC All-Freshman in 2009 and in 2010 and 2011 he earned second-team all-league honors. In 2012, he didn't allow a single sack and became Kentucky's first AP All-American offensive lineman since Warren Bryant in 1976.

On the field, Warford's size - short, squatty, broad-shouldered - literally makes it difficult for defensive tackles to get around him. Jokes aside, he fires off the ball well and has good pulling quickness as well, and he can slide laterally surprisingly well for a man his size. Unfortunately, his size is a problem in and of itself - it's not all productive size, and it makes him extremely slow in straight-line speed for a big man, about a 5.58 40.

The other knock on him, one that might negate his fit on the Bears, is that he's a right guard, predominantly. With Lance Louis out for six weeks at least, the Bears do need a player to slot in at right guard until Louis' return. The question is, when Louis returns, who plays at left? The other possibility for Warford would be at center, with Roberto Garza shifting to left guard.

CBS ranks him as the third guard and 72nd prospect overall, a second or third round prospect. WalterFootball marks him as the fifth guard, having him go at 40 overall to the Titans.

Would you be willing to take Warford with the 50th pick?
