Earlier this week we looked at the numerous mock drafts that had the Chicago Bears taking Georgia linebacker Alec Ogletree in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft. In fact, I'm seeing MLB as the go to position for the Bears according to the experts.
Ogletree has been called one of the best athletes in the draft. He's coming off a highly productive junior year, where he happened to miss 4 games to suspension. If it weren't for character concerns he could be a top 10 pick.
The other MLB prospect often linked to the Bears is Notre Dame's Manti Te'o. (Can we please get through one comment section without any lame-ass girlfriend jokes?)
Te'o isn't the athlete that Ogletree is, but he's an instinctive player with a high football I.Q., and he's had four very productive years of college football for scouts to dissect. A lot was made of his performance against Alabama, but that one game will not cloud the judgement of NFL scouts.
The wildcard MLB is Kansas State's Arthur Brown, who I'm seeing mocked to the Bears in the 1st round, but I also see him going in the 2nd. Some scouts are steadfast with their belief that he's a 2nd round talent, but others have pushed him to to the 1st round. He's a high character guy that can play MLB or OLB for 4-3 teams.
LSU's Kevin Minter was mocked to the Bears a couple months ago, but I think the consensus has Brown leaping him now. Odds are Minter isn't going at 20 in the draft.
So here's our poll question of the day, and I want you to assume the Bears are picking a middle linebacker with their 20th pick (No trading down scenarios please).
Which 1st round linebacker would you prefer, Manti Te'o, Alec Ogletree, or Arthur Brown?
