In the deal, the Bears traded pick 20 of the 5th round, 153 overall, to the Falcons for their pick 30 of the 5th round, 163 overall, and a seventh round pick, the 236th overall. So the Bears get an extra pick in this year's draft.
Entering the draft, the Bears only had five draft picks, and this at least gives them a sixth pick. And somehow, I get the suspicion that Maponga wasn't on the Bears' radar. Just a hunch.
If you think a seventh-round pick doesn't matter, remember the Bears took J'Marcus Webb in the seventh round, and he started at left tackle the last two seasons.
But as of writing this, we'll find out in seven picks who the Bears might have had their eye on. Stay tuned...
