With the 21st pick in the 2014 NFL draft, the Chicago Bears select....

With the 2013 draft coming to a close, we have reached the "limbo" period of the NFL season. the time between draft and spring/summer camps can be a long and boring time for football fans. Sure you can finish watching the NBA playoffs, or even watch some baseball, but if you're like me, baseball gets boring, and you really only watch the NBA when you happen to pass upon a game while flipping through channels. Well here's something that can keep you busy for a little while, my latest edition mock draft!

For this mock I used both seniors, and under classmen. Some Jrs, or redshirt sophomores who have a chance of declaring after this season. So keep in mind that not all of these guys will actually declare, but if they're listed I have a good feeling they may.

So with that...The Chicago Bears, with the 21st pick in the 2014 NFL draft, select...

Justin Gilbert, CB, Oklahoma St.

Gilbert is a big guy, 6'0 195, but he's got that typical Emery feel to him. He's fast (expected to run a low 4.4 or high 4.3), strong enough to jam at the line, and athletic enough to drop back and play center field on the cover 3 Zones. Gilbert was going to declare after his Jr season, but decided he will be going back to school for the 2013-2014 season. This was a good idea for him, seeing as he was expected to be a 2nd round pick, but now his stock is as high as the #2 CB in the draft by some scouts.

Owns OKST record with 5 KR TDs, which is also tied for the Big 12 record.

Can play any position in the defensive backfield. CB, S, NB

had 5 INTs in 2011, followed by no INTs in 2012, simply because teams were not throwing to him.

Causes fumbles, and isn't afraid to mix it up in the run game

Here'swhat the Oklahoma State official site has to say about Gilbert

One of the Big 12's most experienced cornerbacks ... An athletic playmaker who remains a big factor on special teams ... Was a Rivals freshman All-American in 2010 as a kick returner ... Owns the OSU record and is tied for the Big 12 record with five career kickoff returns for touchdowns ... Is second all-time at OSU and in the Big 12 Conference's top 10 with 2,228 kickoff return yards ... At OSU, he trails only Big 12 record holder Perrish Cox, who had 2,804 yards in four seasons ... Honorable mention All-Big 12 in the return game in 2011 ... Will enter the 2013 season second among all active NCAA players with his five kickoff returns for scores ... Has a career return average of 26.5 yards ... Defensive MVP of the 2012 Fiesta Bowl ... Enters his senior season with 26 consecutive starts under his belt at cornerback ... Ranks among the Big 12 Conference's career top 10 with 84 kickoff returns.

I figure with Peanut and Jennings both on 1 year deals, and the former of the two getting up there in age, it's time the Bears start investing in younger defensive back talent, and Justin Gilbert fits the Phil Emery bill, of a long, athletic play maker, who has a somewhat of a "nasty streak."
