Football is as much psychological as it is physical. The strategy's and tactics employed never cease to end. The Chicago Bears are at war with 31 individual armies of men, all in conspiracy of one another, all with the same goal in mind, the ultimate victory; winning the super bowl.
All 31 armies have addressed or attempted to address their perceived weaknesses via the draft and free agency, some have new coaches and personnel the Bears being one of them. The Bears we're all about defense since possibly the beginning of time, yet that is only one important element in the whole spectrum of battle. The offense has been weak and undervalued as a weapon, it has not been fully realized due to an entire mess of problems, but this season all that will end.
We now have Phil Emery who thus far has proved to be an intelligent, determined, and detailed leader for the franchise. Who appears very well schooled and very confidant in the evaluation of people, and therefore must be just as well confidant in the evaluation of the 31 other teams who want to win just as bad as the Bears do.
"All warfare is based on deception" - Sun Tzu
A tactic i feel like the Bears have used most effectively is deception. Looking back on the draft most notably the 1st round, Emery covered most his tracks before the draft even began by using FA to fill out the Bears' obvious weaknesses and he did it extremely well and it was truly convincing.
"Appear weak when your are strong, and strong when you are weak" - Sun Tzu
All in all i am convinced we have a master leading this organization and just thought i would add to the already high praise i see on WCG which is very well done. I feel Emery has that military edge that he's carried over from his career and it's yet another excellent attribute and a great way to think about the NFL.
And what better way to remedy the ailing offense than to bring in an offensive minded head coach, who is teaching a quarterback in the final year of his contract? Pressure is high on Jay Cutler and Bears fans should look forward to this season more than past seasons because of this excellent psychological tactic Emery has utilized on Cutler who needs to win and needs to win now.
"Strategy without tactics is the slowest route to victory, Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat."
So hopefully the Bears get back to that 85 mentality to win and surprise us this year getting there by smart coaching and smart foundations, based on the war that is the NFL.
