Joe Anderson Making the Most of Opportunities

Joe Camporeale-US PRESSWIRE

Joe Anderson saw a lot of action with the starters this offseason and so far, he's making the most of his chances.

With Brandon Marshall in and out of minicamps, Alshon Jeffery with a hamstring injury, and Devin Hester no longer playing receiver, other Bears receivers have had plenty of snaps to pick up. And so far, according to Dan Pompei, Joe Anderson has been getting plenty of action with the starters and looking pretty good.

"We've seen good improvement in Joe," wide receivers coach Mike Groh said. "As it has slowed down for him mentally, his speed has been more evident on the field. He's made good progress and had a very productive spring."

"In the installation meetings, he's right there next to me," Groh said. "He's very inquisitive. He wants to know what to do, how to do it and why we do it."

Anderson turned down two 53-man roster pickups to stay with the Bears, and played special teams upon his call-up on December 11.

Of course, as is often repeated, it's only June 15th. But if Anderson's improved enough to push for the fourth receiver spot, there's far worse outcomes. And a depth chart of Marshall, Jeffery, Earl Bennett, Anderson and Marquess Wilson (plus one) wouldn't be too bad either.
