Quick Recap: Bears defeat Chargers 33-28 at Soldier Field

David Banks-USA TODAY Sports

Lots of points were scored, and the offense looked good, but typical for the Chicago Bears, defense and special teams made the biggest splash.

We're only a few weeks into new Chicago Bears head coach Marc Trestman's offense, and there were big strides made between the first preseason game and tonight.  The pace was faster (a Trestman trademark), there was a notable fluidity, and everyone seemed like they were getting on the same page.

A couple of rookie standouts:

Offensive lineman Kyle Long, the Bears first round draft pick this season, looked very good.  He is still a little raw, which is to be expected, but the guy is down right physical.  He was nasty in the trenches tonight versus the Chargers, and will undoubtedly land a place on the starting roster come September.

Linebacker Jonathan Bostic also made an impact, literally, with his booming hit on second year wide receiver Mike Willie.  Evidence can be seen here:  LINK

Jay Cutler got sacked early, and had a 1st quarter interception, but also connected with wide receiver Brandon Marshall for an early game touchdown.

Special teams and defense showed up in full force under the guidance of new DC Mel Tucker and ST coach Joe DeCamillis, causing turnovers in the Chargers most critical moments.

We'll have a more comprehensive breakdown coming tomorrow, but for now, what were you most excited to see?  What concerned you the most?
