Don't worry, Jordan Palmer is still a Bears' quarterback.
But apparently when the team loses one third-string quarterback, they have to go out and sign two more. In addition to Palmer, the Bears made another move in bringing in former Buffalo Bills quarterback Trent Edwards.

Edwards was a third-round draft pick of the Bills in 2007, starting nine games for them that season.
Brad Biggs posted the thought that maybe Edwards and Palmer provide competition for a third, veteran quarterback to make the roster: He started 30 of his first 32 games for the Bills, then was cut from the team in 2010 and signed by the Jaguars. He spent 2012 in Philadelphia as a backup, getting in only one game and throwing two passes.
Addition of Edwards after signing Jordan Palmer indication #Bears may consider quick competition for a veteran that makes 53 man roster

Which, of course, remains to be seen. They could still easily keep two. And further according to Biggs...
#Bears original plan was to sign only Palmer. Change of heart a day later and added Edwards to create competition/possibilities
