Former Chicago Bears quarterback Rex Grossman will see significant action tonight for the Washington Redskins, as starter Robert Griffin III is still rehabbing from knee surgery seven months ago.
The Redskins will take on the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers, who finished 2012 at 8-8 after losing three of their last four games. Ben Roethilsberger should see significant playing time, as the Steelers look to get their passing game back on track after losing Mike Wallace to the Dolphins in the offseason, and losing Plaxico Burress last week to a shoulder injury.
Grossman re-signed a one year deal with Washington this offseason, and will be battling Pat White for the 3rd position on the Redskins depth chart. But Rex is still showing the resolve that he has always had in the NFL.
"I know I can be successful and play in this league," Grossman says, still with the swagger of a starter. "Even my worst critic, I can point out things that obviously show I can play in this league. I think I can play great. But I haven't. I just feel like I did something to make that not happen. And I need to correct that."
Fasten your seat belts, folks. When Good Rex shows up and has his head on straight, we know what can happen.
This is your Monday Night Football Open Thread. Have fun!
