Chicago Bears Fantasy Football: Start 'Em and Sit 'Em versus the Vikings

Hopefully none of you started any Jets or Patriots players in that craptastic game last night. Edelman could have scored for you in a PPR league, and the Pats D was a good play, but if you're still looking to finalize your lineups, and you need a nudge in a Chicago Bears direction, we'll run down who you should start or sit against the Minnesota Vikings.

In week two the Minnesota Vikings will travel to Soldier Field to play the Chicago Bears in a key NFC North match up. The Bears will look to go two games ahead of them in the early season, while the Vikes will look to even up their record at 1-1.

From a fantasy perspective there are a few Bears that you need to be cognizant of, so here's our run down of who to start and who to sit this week.

Start 'Em

Matt Forte RB - Last week Matt Forte had 23 total touches for 91 yards, capped off with his 1 yard rushing touchdown. Lovie Smith would always sub him out for the bulkier Michael Bush on the goal line, so seeing Forte get a goal line run had to be eye opening for his fantasy owners.

Forte getting a lot of touches is something you can count on all season long. And you do recall what Reggie Bush did to the Viking defense last week down't you? Forte isn't as elusive as Bush, but he is capable of having that type of high yards from scrimmage day, especially in Marc Trestman's offense.

Brandon Marshall WR - Marshall is just a guy you never bench. His size and strength, to go along with the trust factor he has with his quarterback, will ensure he has plenty of targets.

Alshon Jeffery WR - I wavered a bit on this pick, but I do think he's a solid 3rd WR or flex option. He had 5 receptions, on 8 targets, for 42 yards last week. The Bears also showed him on an end around fake last week, so he may be a candidate for a rushing attempt!

Chicago Bears Defense - The Bears D picked off two passes last week against Andy Dalton. This week they face Christian Ponder. Need I say more?

I will sneak in a Devin Hester mention, he has done well against Minnesota during his career, with four return TDs in 13 games.

Sit 'Em

Jay Cutler QB - Even though Cutler has a 90+ QB rating in his career against the Vikings, I think the smart play is to sit him. Maybe in a few weeks the Trest Coast Offense* will be hitting on all cylinders, and he'll be a better option.

I will admit that I'm starting Cutler this week, but only because I really don't like the match up my #1 QB has in front of him. So the bottom line is Play Cutler at your own Risk.

*Helmet tip to tvainisi for the TCO.

Martellus Bennett TE - I think Martellus Bennett is on the cusp of being a top 12 fantasy TE, so if you have a better option, keep Bennett on the bench. For those of you that didn't place a high value on a #1 TE, Bennett is probably your best option to play this week.

What do you guys think about the Bears fantasy options this week?
