Bears vs Steelers final score: Chicago beats Pittsburgh 40-23

Justin K. Aller

The Chicago Bears were able to hold off the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 3 on Sunday Night Football.

Marc Trestman was hired for one reason: to bring the Chicago Bears offense into the 21st century.  So far, so good.  Jay Cutler ended the night with a QB rating over 90, which is his third straight game to hit that mark in 2013, and that is significant when you consider that he only eclipsed 90 a total of five time in 2012.  Speed, quickness, and efficiency.

The Bears held a 24-3 lead in the 2nd quarter, but gave the Steelers a little bit of hope until the last six minutes of the game.  At one point, Pittsburgh was only down 27-24, but then Cutler hit Earl Bennett in the end zone for a 17 yard touchdown pass.  The next possession, the defense put the nail in the Steelers coffin on a 42 yard fumble return by Julius Peppers.

Five turnovers by the Steelers were too much to overcome, and Chicago now sits at 3-0.

We will have a more comprehensive analysis tomorrow, but for now, some quick stats:

Jay Cutler:  20/30, 159 yds, 1 TD, 0 INT, 90.8 rating

Matt Forte:  16 rushes, 87 yds, 1 TD / 4 rec, 24 yds rec

Brandon Marshall: 5 rec, 52 yds

Alshon Jeffery:  7 rec, 51 yds

Ben Roethlisberger:  26/41, 406 yds, 2 TD, 2 INT, 92.1 rating

Jonathan Dwyer:  12 rushes, 39 yds

Antonio Brown:  9 rec, 196 yds, 2 TD

--------------

That's all for tonight, folks... Enjoy your Victory Monday tomorrow.  What were you most impressed with, and what were the biggest concerns?
