Big Bears fan here, love to read all the material on Windy City Gridiron. I'm also a huge Illini fan (go ahead, Northwestern fanatics, you can groan now) and I'm headed to the game against Washington this coming Saturday at Soldier Field. I have just one problem: I don't have seats yet.
Couple of questions:
1) Are there any seats/sections you can recommend? Are there any you would suggest I stay away from? It's a night game, so I don't really have to worry about sunny or shady areas.
2) Pre-game stuff... when do the gates usually open to the stadium prior to kickoff? How safe of an area is the surrounding parking lots before gametime? Any type of tailgating or general tips of how to navigate around Soldier Field pre-game would be appreciated.
3) Post-game stuff... same questions as in #2, but now the question being how safe is the surrounding area AFTER the games when it's much later at night?
4) Just any tips you have for me in general. It's the first time I've ever been to Soldier Field, although I am very familiar with the Chicago area, just not SF. Any recommendations that I haven't covered in my questions above are very much appreciated.
Thanks so much guys!!
Great win by our Bears today; Cutler and the o-line both looked much improved, and the defense was same-old, same-old... in a good way.
