Whither Michael Sam

Most of my time on SB Nation down the hall at Bleed Cubbie Blue, writing on draft prep and minor league stuff. The story on Michael Sam fascinates me. As I understand it, his announcement, which would have likely been public knowledge among GMs soon, sent him down a mock board about sixty pegs.

Sam's value (on a need basis, at least) seems tied somewhat on the decision to keep Julius Peppers around or not. If Peppers leaves, a pass rush will have to be manufactured, more than if he stays. Whether Peppers remains or not, a value pick ought to be considered a value pick.

My questions for you are as follows.

What did you think of Sam a week ago?

Do you think he is a worse player today?

If Peppers goes, where do you see Sam as a screaming buy?

If Peppers stays, where would you wish to add him?

Do you think he would make an opening day roster, either way?

Do you think 60 slots seems an excessive tumble, all things considered?
