  • After some further thought I now understand what Emery meant by what kind of quarterback he looks for. If Emery had his choice some years back and Trestman was his coach he would've drafted Jordan Palmer. Emery would prefer his quarterbacks to be 6'5 but they still have to fit in Trestman's system. That is the reason why Trest and Emery are just fine with Palmer being the #2 guy. David Fales fits into our system he's just shorter and smaller handed than Emery would like.
  • Fales was on my list of possible quarterback prospects for when this offseason first started because of his high completion percentage.
  • I am very interested in seeing Jerrod Johnson this spring and summer, if he can produce in this system then he will easily be our number #3, and number #2 next year if they decide not to retain Palmer.
  • Jerrod Johnson, David Fales, and Jordan Lynch will basically be competing to replace Palmer next year.
  • Depending on Lynch's fit he may have a better chance of being retained longer than Fales because of his intangibles.

  • I look forward to seeing Ford and Carey battle it out, though I like Carey better.
  • Ford didn't get much opportunity to show us much last spring and summer so this should be fun.
  • A couple of WCG members have compared Carey to Walter Payton and Emmitt Smith, and they are correct. Slow down for a second before you disagree. Set aside what Payton and Smith accomplished and look at their body of work and entrance into the league. When you watch Payton it seemed as if his every move in response to tackling defenders was the perfect one, and his vision was awesome. When you watch Carey's highlight film that is what I see. It's as if he knows how the defender will attempt to tackle him before they make their attempt and so his counter move is spot on. The comparison to Smith is because Carey came into the draft period ranked as a top three back and the moment the combine was over his name disappeared. Emmitt didn't put up eye popping numbers coming away from the draft but he was a true running back and that is what Carey is.
  • I said a long time ago this was my favorite back in the draft and I just knew he wouldn't be available for us. I'm so glad I was wrong about his availability. I so look forward to seeing him in a Bears uniform.
  • Draughn is a decent pickup for competition purposes because his college offense was similar to ours and he is a decent pass protector and catcher.

We gave him something no other team gave him, time to learn and participate. Hopefully the time we gave him is the difference between last year and this year.
  • I think Dustin G has some potential and I look forward to seeing him compete with the big boys.
  • If you've heard me ramble enough you know who my reserve spot is for.

  • As you see Trest still loves the supposed big blocking tight end. If neither of these guys work out then at least we still got Britton.
  • Booth has the upper hand on being retained for multiple reasons. He is a long snapper as well, so if he shows that he is capable of playing tight end then he may have found a spot on this team.

  • I really like how Emery is creating a battle to earn a backup spot. Gaines, Long, and Dunbar will battle to be our Eben Britton of next year if he chooses not be re-sign again.
  • I find it funny that a lot of WCG members have been quick to want to replace Mills. A kid I think did an awesome job considering he was learning an offense, coming in as a rookie, and drafted in the fifth round.
  • Eben and Jordan may be battling for the right tackle position but im comfortable with either one winning.
  • I've never had so much comfort and confidence in our offensive line as I do now. I truly appreciate what Trestman and Kromer have brought to our offensive front.

  • This will turn out to be a huge under the radar position battle. Yes the battle will be for the backup guard position but it will still be a good one. Groy is known as a run game mauler and the word is his pass protection needs some help. If you look at Groy's 3cone and shuttle numbers he has every physical tool to be a pass protector. I look forward to see what our staff can get out of Groy and Leno as they battle what was suppose to be a starter last year in James Brown.

  • The fact we signed Pegues and Dunn late shows that we still appreciate and seek a 3-tech in our revamped defense.
  • Emery says He will line up Sutton and Furguson in both the NT position and 3-tech. So I assume the same could be said for everybody on this list.
  • During Furguson's interview he revealed that the DL coach wanted him to play the 2-tech as well, so that's more insight to what our new defense will be bringing to the table.
  • I hate that we missed out on Aaron Donald but it might have been the best thing for this team. Sutton was my second best 3-tech and I'll take that and the best corner in the draft any day.
  • Those of you who liked Jernigan, Ego is the same guy but with more potential and a bigger frame.
  • Emery says he will be keeping 10 defensive lineman so keep that in mind when trying to figure out what Ends and DT's we will retain.

There is true comparison between Corn Wash and Clowney, I hope we get the opportunity to see that comparison flourish. I also hope that Trevor Scott can find finally find his place on a team because he definitely has the combine numbers to be successful.

  • If I were a linebacker coach I would be happy to come to work with this group every day.
  • Don't be surprised if Williams doesn't find the field as a starter week one.
  • Christian Jones has awesome instincts and awareness on the field. He looks much faster on the field then his numbers show. His flaw that I saw from day one was structure and discipline.
  • I think this group will be more than sufficient for us going forward after the year is over, the only thing we don't know at this time is where some of these guys will line up.
  • I like the fact that every one of these guys have to learn a new system so things kind of start with a clean slate.

  • I think we will see a lot of safetie one on one coverage this year, of course with a high safety formation. We played that way a lot last year and most of the time got torched but this year will be different because we will provide Tucker the safety to get the job done. Vereen, Martin, and Heban are all equipped to play strong safety as well as nickel. That is what Tucker would like to do, and I would love a little more man defense. It is most likely that Mundy, Jennings, McCray, Steltz, and Sebetic will battle at the free safety position. Steltz is more of a SS but he isn't capable of covering one on one so they will place him at the free position. Mundy will be placed at both positions, but will most likely succeed as the high safety.
  • Be mindful that guys like Greene, Senn, or Christian could possibly line up at SS. It would be an amazing sight if Christian could line up at SS and succeed. Just thinking about the possibility of that has me ready for some football.

  • The back end of this group will be battling for a roster spot.
  • Fuller has been my favorite corner from day one so im happy to have him as a Bear. Both Tillman and Jennings were second rounders so it seem only right that we bring in a top pick to replace them for the future. As I another WCG member pointed out many comparisons have been made about Fuller being the next Tillman, but I think he is a bigger Tim Jennings, and that very comparison makes him scary good. The player that comes to mind when I watch film is Charles Woodson coming out of Michigan.
  • I think it's a nice position to be in when the whole backend of this group will be battling Frey and another for a roster spot. Our backend of corners better be ready to be physical and productive or they wont be retained.
