We are entering what is commonly referred to around NFL circles as the quiet time of the year. I'll bet the Chicago Bears were hoping for a little more quiet than this...
Cornelius Washington is a second year defensive end that was hoping to make a different kind of impression on the coaches this off season. With the Bears going heavy at the DE position in free agency, Washington already had a tough road ahead of him to make the roster, but with Friday's arrest, it's another strike against him.
He was arrested on Friday night for speeding and driving with a suspended license. He previously was arrested for speeding and driving under the influence in 2011. If you're looking for the bright side in all this, at least there was no reports of alcohol this time.
Washington didn't play much last year as he transitioned to a full time 4-3 DE after being moved around a bit at Georgia, but the Bears had high hopes for the ultra-athletic Washington.
There is one more positive in this situation, at least he didn't act like a Prima-Donna high and mighty pro athlete.
