Just got around to watching the Bears vs. Eagles preseason game, specifically the first quarter or when the starters were playing. Headphones on, in a very dark room, and actually paying attention. Here are things I wrote down.

-A couple minutes into the game the preseason live app switched over to the Eagles announcers, that's not cool.

-Jay Ratliff looks like a man on a mission and the Eagles can do nothing but hold him every play.

-On the second defensive series Kyle Fuller looked really spry with a nice diving hit to stop a McCoy screen and he also darted into the backfield to stop McCoy on an outside run. Looks like a dude that flies around, reminds me of Harrison Smith.

-Lance Briggs is still the most important player on this defense, he's everywhere. Here's hoping he stays as healthy as a unicorn.

-Even though the Bears went 3 and out on the first offensive series Jay Cutler displayed terrific feet while moving around in the pocket. Probably my favorite thing to watch about Cutler, very underrated feet.

-Cutler to Jeffrey for 40 yards that was called off, Cutler all arm strength there couldn't step into it, but still got it there, a little under thrown, but Alshon made a terrific adjustment as we are used to.

-Brandon Marshall, you complete me.

-Run blocking was shall we say less than stellar, especially from Dante Rosario, but no Long or Mills so it hurts my heart a little less.

-Brandon Marshall is so cool.

-Matt Forte with a nasty blitz pickup that nearly flipped the defender on the Cutler overthrow to Weems.

-Cutler had a perfectly clean pocket to throw from for the long completion to Dante Rosario, whom had a couple huge games with Phillip Rivers a few years back.

-Forte had a really nice run for about 16 yards, but holding penalty killed it.

-Man oh man that is a Major League fastball from Cutler to Zach Miller for the TD, I'm not even sure Miller had enough time to think about dropping it.

-If I could make a baseball analogy, Miller is very similar to Jake Arrieta, both talented guys that for many reasons just couldn't put it together (like catching passes from the likes of David Garrard, Todd Bouman, Trent Edwards, and Blaine Gabbart), maybe Trestman is Miller's Chris Bosio, or maybe it's the first preseason game and doesn't mean jack.

-It's good to see Kelvin Hayden back, especially when he's not picking off Rex Grossman Super Bowl passes, thanks for ruining my night.

-Shea McClellin, I'm not optimistic. Fun Fact: If you google Shea McClellin the first suggestion is "Shea McClellin Bust"

-Jay Ratliff, I'm optimistic. Fun Fact: Ratliff went to the same High School as J.D. and Stephen Drew.

-As many have already wrote Trevor Scott is making a good case for a roster spot, he caused the second Foles pick with good quickness up the field.

-Chris Williams can absolutely fly, I hope he wins the return job, at least on kickoffs, with Spurlock on punts. Weems seems like a great locker room guy, but I don't believe in his return skills anymore.

-I miss you Dave Toub, brothers for life, and I still miss Lovie Smith, but only from the defensive side of things. I miss that the defensive players used to eat, sleep, and breathe turnovers. You don't hear that anymore, you also don't hear in the player's voices that extreme admiration they had for Lovie, but I am hoping talent will win out this year regardless.

-That same admiration CAN be heard in the players about Marc Trestman though. Who I believe is as talented as an offensive mind can possibly get.

-Excited About: Jay Ratliff, Kyle Fuller, Adrian Wilson, and anything on offense, which could be historically great this year.

-Needs Help: Shea, Joe D., Dante Rosario's run blocking, Shea, Shea, and Shea.
