Pittsburgh Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams was in Hawaii last week at the Pro Bowl as a "USAA Military Correspondent" talking to his fellow NFL players about military appreciation. The USAA is the official military appreciation sponsor of the NFL, and they give out the Salute To Service Award every year. Offensive lineman Matt Slauson is the Chicago Bears' nominee for the award that "honors a league member who demonstrates an exemplary commitment to honoring and supporting the military community."
For more on Slauson's nomination you can check out my article from November right here.
The winner of the Salute To Service award will be revealed at the "5th Annual NFL Honors" Awards Show in San Francisco, which will be aired on CBS Saturday, Feb. 6, the night before Super Bowl 50.
In 2013, Bears cornerback Charles Tillman won the award and last year ex-Bear Jared Allen won the award.
Be sure to check out the interview above, the Kyle Long part starts at the :39 second mark.
