Bears move to 13-2

People like to say how the Bears win inspite of Grossman or inspite of the current state of our pass defense or whatever other number of reasons they can come up with to let them sleep at night, but the fact remains that the Bears keep winning.  Not a lot of teams can say that.  Teams like Atlanta, Cincy and New York desperately need wins and don't get them.  Teams like Indy lost to teams they have no business falling to, but I guess that means nothing to people.

The Bears pass defense again looked questionable as Jon Kitna threw for 3 TDs, but our run defense played well and the offense did enough to pull out the win.  Todd Johnson and Charles Tillman were both inactive.

Despite the win, the Bears find themselves right back where they started, a QB contraversy.  Coach Smith insists that the change at QB was planned and it probably was, but I am sure much will be made out of it.

With Grossman going for 197, 1 TD and a third straight game without an interception, nothing will come of it to the dismay of many journalists.

QB
There is no controversy, Rex was solid and Griese finished up in a backup role.

I wanted them to get up by thirty and mail it in, didn't happen.
Ron Turner and Lovie are the only two that can make this happen.
Any of our QB's and RB's can get to the big game, from here on out it's coaching.

Agreed
There is no QB controversy.  It was planned.  Griese would have played quite a bit more, but the game was closer than expected.  Grossman is still the man, but Griese will fill in very well if needed.

Tony Romo
The NFC's "BEST QUARTERBACK" sure is showing how much he deserved that Pro Bowl Selection.

What a load of shit, I bet everyone jumps off his jock after this disaster.

I'm not
really concerned about our team and certainly not about Rex's hold on the starting QB spot.  He's been solid in three straight games and it's clear that Griese went in for a few garbage reps.
I just don't see this as a team that's terribly concerned about their last games.  They want to win, definitely, but the main plan seems to prep for the playoffs and work on the loss of Tommy Harris by tinkering with the line.
I mean, we won with our LT and best secondary guy on the pine.  That's pretty good against any team, especially a division rival.

Not to just mouth Tim Ryan's analysis...
...but it seemed pretty clear that the Bears' defensive game plan was not playing to the situation at all—that, in a game that doesn't matter, they were more interested in working on different defensive looks than anything else.

Rosen and Ryan also mentioned that, in their meeting with the coaches, Smith and Rivera said that they wanted to make the D "feel uncomfortable" (or something to that effect). Is the idea that, by opening up huge routes in the backfield or dropping into man coverage, letting our DBs get burned (in particular, young guys like Hester and Danieal Manning) will give them a better sense of what they're doing wrong, especially when they go in to look at the film during the week?

Ultimately, I won't be too worried about the secondary so long as we get Todd Johnson back. Which brings me to the big question: Anyone know the status of Todd's injury?
