Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Why Phil Emery has his work cut out for him.

For many of you that don't know me, my name is Greg, oh no you don't have to clap, oh stop it just stop. So yeah, I am Greg and I have missed talking about the Bears on WCG. Of course I have fulfilled my needs of talking about them somewhere else but I still miss this place when I can't write. But anyways a lot has happened since I decided to take a little break. A new GM has been appointed, a new QB coach has been hired, and a new Off. Line coach has been hired. So I am going to make an article based on what Phil Emery and Co. have to do to become the team that can not only beat the Packers but also get the Bears to the Super Bowl.

Is a Trade for Brandon Marshall In the Works?

This has been a rumor for years now, where it all started in 2009 shortly after the magnificent trade for our franchise QB took place. And, this team is clearly in need of a big time receiver if it wants to compete with the big boys in the NFC. Would it be simpler to sign and/or draft our top target? Perhaps, but now that we've added a former Broncos coach onto the staff, combined with reasons that shall be described after the jump, this possibility is making more sense by the minute.

Free Agency Extravaganza!

Here we are Bears fans, the post many have been awaiting for a good while now. Decided to take a good amount of time to research the probable players to enter FA, and the list like last year will be continuously updated. Its the day before the Super Bowl, a game I still believe da Bears rightfully would be playing in if this team's roster didn't resemble an episode of M.A.S.H. Now, lets build ourselves a Super Bowl team! Lets. Make. Some, Noise! (After the Jump)

Pro-Bowl is a joke, and needs to go

After watching maybe 10 minutes of yesterdays Pro-Bowl, I was sick, and a little p*ssed off. The NFL should be ashamed of themselves by even having this embarrassing game even played. I think the NFL needs to scrap the Pro-Bowl, I've seen pee-wee games that were more entertaining, to see the NFL's so-called top stars play a game in the fashion they did yesterday, was a joke, and to me the NFL is giving it's fans a great big middle finger with that meaningless game.

So here's my idea, tell me what you think. I say you can still vote for the Pro-Bowl players, and they can be named at halftime during the Super Bowl, which would be better IMO than the musical acts. The players will still get their bonuses, and the recognition of being a top player for that season.

Now to replace the awful Pro-Bowl game, this is what I propose. Take the two last place teams, and have them play a meaningful game, winner gets the first pick in the draft. It would at least have something on the line. And I don't want to hear about the possibilities of injuries, it's football, and the teams with the first and second picks stink anyway.

What do you think? Does anyone have any other ideas?

Decisions Await New Bears GM on Draft Day

The Bears finally have their man in Phil Emery. A scout with 31 years of football experience, Emery should feel completely at home in the team's War Room on draft day. That would certainly be a welcome change for an organisation seemingly intent on putting it's worst foot forward each April. From colossal first round busts like Cedric Benson and Michael Haynes, to head-scratching experiments like Dan Bauzin and Jarron Gilbert, to the botched trade with the Baltimore Ravens in 2011, the job orchestrated by Chicago’s front office left a lengthy trail of embarrassment for team and players alike. Emery, by all accounts an extremely hardworking blue-collar type, not unlike the Packers’ Ted Thompson, has been asked to fix that. And, while the team's proviso-laden approach left many doubting the appeal Chicago would hold as a destination for would-be-GM's, the gig could turn out to be one of the better ones in the league.

Why Phil Emery Was the Right Choice For GM

As already broken by the news, the Chicago Bears have just hired former Chiefs Director of Scouting Phil Emery after a lengthy search which included interviews with 5 candidates. It comes as no surprise to some, as he started his NFL career with the Bears in 1998 as a scout, and already had ties with the current front office. I feel this is the right decision, and I'll explain after the jump.

Getting the Max out of some of these younger

players is a must. They know what they are up against. Everything is predicated on this search for a GM My choice would be Ross from the Giants mainly because they don't miss many play offs and there player are smart and fun to be around them. I like that, it's loose good place to learn.or be taught

Here are the players I'm looking at.

1) DE Whitney Mercilus- Illinois

2) WR Marvin McNutt-Iowa

3) OT Matt McCants- UAB

3) OLB Keenan Robinson- Texas

4) CB Jamell Fleming - Oklahoma

5) QB BJ Coleman - Tenn.Chatt.

6) SS Sean Cattouse - California

7) OT Josh Oglesby - Wisconsin

hello

Just wanted to say hello as I look forward to debating w/ everyone. I'm thrilled that Licht may be our guy because he has learned and worked w/ BB. Could be a big hire for us!

I firmly believe that it was George MC. that fired Angelo and not Ted. I feel more changes will be forthcoming. I hated Angelo because he had no process and drafted injured players over and over. Here's hoping George MC will make more changes, if necessary.

The Bears' Plan of Attack for Offseason; The (Mock) Draft

Okay WCG, I've finished my assessment for the second part of two, with this one focusing on the draft in April. Note, what you're about to see is pure speculation, as I've spent a good amount of time thinking about who the Bears may sign in FA, and thus which positions will be resolved. Plus, I felt it was high time to finally publish my mock draft. Follow me to the promised land!
