"He told me the offense wasn't simple enough for him. He wants a Pop Warner offense. He limited me in formations and limited me in plays. He's been on my back all offseason.'' -- Fired Buffalo offensive coordinator Turk Schonert, on the constraints he felt were put on him by coach Dick Jauron, in an interview with Buffalo TV station WIVB.

This quote makes it much more clear why Juaron stuck by Shoop for so long and then could fire Schonert a week before the season started

I am really dissapointed in Jerry Angelo's denial of the fact we need a go nto receiverm what about Marvin Harrison he is still available, I am not sure what other receiver is still available and we could use a back up center to Olin Kreutz

"You just have to get used to catching a ball that comes that hard," said Davis. "It comes fast; it's on you real quick. You've got to get your head around. Once you get used to running routes with him and catching the ball from him, it gets a little bit easier. But he throws the ball pretty hard and the heat is still on the ball 20 yards down the field. It's not like you're [just] five yards away from him and it's hot." So I tried to make out what Davis said and I think that was, Cutler throws the ball hard and I can't really catch it. So nothing has changed. Nice!

"We went through that quite extensively. But we were really happy in terms of the jump that we saw him take. When I [evaluated] him after his junior year, I thought he would be a second-day, maybe a fourth-round pick coming into this year. But what he did his senior year, he really did, he took a quantum step. -- Jerry Angelo on Bears 3rd round selection Jarron Gilbert

10. A safety-free first round. Three years ago, the safety position was truly all the rage. Michael Huff and Donte Whitner were selected in the top 10, and Tennessee's Jason Allen went to Miami at 16th overall. In 2007, four safeties — including LaRon Landry at sixth overall to Washington — were selected in the first 24 picks. Last year, Kenny Phillips went to the Giants as the last pick of the first round. The 2009 NFL Draft? I don't see zilch coming from the safety position in the first round. What's with the sudden decline in the safety spot? Who knows? But aside from Western Michigan's Louis Delmas, Oregon's Patrick Chung and Mizzou's William Moore, there's no other safety that I can see going in the first 50 picks.

"I spoke to Torry," Pace said. "It's funny he was just probably at my house a few days before I even came here. I think he's just out searching. I'm probably recruiting him in Chicago here. And hopefully it works out."- Orlando Pace

This again? Childress is reprising Lovie Smith's Groundhog Day routine where he wakes up every year with the same sad sack quarterback holding a contending team hostage. Though Childress isn't ruling out Jackson as next year's starter, we're hoping he comes to his senses in the next couple of months.

Rotoworld's comment on Vikings coach Brad Childress stating Gus "The Headbanger" Ferotte will compete with Tavaris Jackson for the starting spot.
