An Early Assessment
Here are ten assessments/predictions concerning the Bears draft picks for next year .
3. I know I am in the uncomfortable position of agreeing wholeheartedly with Mel Kiper Jr. that the Bears improved as much, if not more, than any other team in the draft. Whether that means they went from a 6-10 team to a 7-9 one or from 8-8 to 9-7, well, that will take training camp to crystallize those projections.
The offense, which could include new starters at as many as six positions, received an instant upgrade as long as left tackle Chris Williams and running back Matt Forte start from Day 1, even if it means matching up Williams on Colts right defensive end Dwight Freeney. Remember too that Grossman and Orton immediately improved with the addition of rookies likely to bolster the Bears' pass protection and running game.

Ultimate Chicago Bears Draft Scenario - Trade
The next scenario explores the possibility of a trade. Obviously, we can't even begin to project who likely trade partners are and what they would be willing to give up especially since we don't know who will be on the board come the 14 pick. For this exercise I decided to use the trade offer that the Tampa Bay Buccaneer's blogger offered us before the idea was nixed. Again in this case I am not looking for anybody disputing the trade, just give me your takes on the picks.
Judging from the results it seems our readers are on the same page. This one is brought to you by whitebearsox23.
The trade was as follows:
After the Bears traded FS Danieal Manning and the #14th pick in the draft for RB Cadillac Williams, the 20th pick, and the 52nd pick, the Bears received an upgrade at the running back position that they desperately needed. Williams may be something very special or a bust coming off of his injury. If he is totally healthy, he will be a Pro-Bowler. If he is injured, the Bears will have a serious problem at the running back position. After this trade, the Bears would have five draft choices in the first three rounds. Here is what the draft should look like for the Bears if this scenario came up…

Ultimate Chicago Bears Draft Scenario - Running Back
So we are now down to it. There won't be much more in the way of hard news, unless Miami manages to sign somebody. It will all be speculation and unabashed rumor. So in the next 2-3 days I am presenting you with 5 different scenarios for the Bears draft and would like you to select the one that best fits what you'd like to see the Bears do. Each draft is through the first 3 rounds and put together by a WCG reader or favorite. I plan to have them all posted within 2-3 days, then I'll throw up a recap post and a poll.
The first scenario is the running back in the first round plan. This one is submitted by Chad.
