OJ Atogwe Could be a Free Agent as of June 1

Could this be what we're waiting for ? As of June 1 Atogwe will be part of the free agent market , as will any other restricted free agent that was tendered as right of first refusal that is not signed . But the Rams do have a few options with OJ so lets jump right into it !

Uncapped Year: Bears make an Early Splash, but Much Ado About Nothing?
You guys may not remember this, but my very first contribution to this wonderful site was this guy, "What could an uncapped 2010 season mean for the Bears?"
In it, we took a look at some of the various implications an uncapped year had on rookies, free agents, teams, and the Bears. It finished up with this:
This part is completely open to debate. In a time like this, it could be the time the Bears step to the forefront and try to fix some problems. It could be the time they try to improve the bottom line. I'd put more hypotheses here, but honestly, every time I think I know what this franchise does, it does something that either confuses me to the point of anger, or puts some kind of false hope in me.
Three months later, Free Agency has started and the Bears did some stuff, but the big spending some predicted isn't there, leading us to wonder...was it much ado about nothing?

Desperation v. Deference to Better Football Minds
Sure there were press conferences and the like, but you're telling me it wasn't until now that the Bears caught on to the fact that they were a bad football team, desperate? For a long time the stories wafting from Halas Hall did not pass the smell or the laugh test.
As a Bears fan I am thrilled with their moves in free agency, so far. Nonetheless, I do not think the Bears finally decided to make moves worthy of a premier NFL franchise because they finally saw the light. While I am not privileged as to the inner workings of Halas Hall (shocking isn't it?!), I think it was the presence of Mike Martz and Mike Tice that guided the Bears away from pseudo-shrewd business decisions and towards making moves more likely to win football games.
NOTE: One may say "the desperation led them to bring in these better football minds". Maybe so, but the question still remains why it took so long to take such obvious NFL franchise baby steps in the right direction?

Bears Draft Weekend Possibilities: Wide Receiver
The Bears will be just spectators on Thursday, April 22nd when the NFL begins their first ever three day Draft. The first round will get going at 6:30p.m. CT, with the second and third rounds taking place Friday, April 23rd starting at 5:00p.m. CT. What an idiotic start time? If maximizing viewership is the goal, why start at a time when three quarters of the country is either just getting off work, or still at work? Anyway... not the point of this post. But when the Bears finally get around to making their initial selection in the 2010 draft (I'm hoping to be home in time to see it), with the recent free agent signings, and the swirling free agent rumors out there, the direction the Bears will take is really up in the air.
If a free safety and offensive lineman end up being signed it'll really open up the possibilities. Jerry Angelo can truly go with best player available then. He may even go that route if his free agent spending is over. Really the only sure bet from JA is that he'll draft at least one defensive lineman.

There Are Two Too Many NFL Preseason Games - @Kevin_Payne
I'm still runnin' my eyes over the questions you guys left me last week, and I've found another I wanna respond to. This one comes "JackHammerBM." He asks...
"Hey Kevin. I have a question about the possible addition of 2 more regular season games & subtraction of 2 pre-season games. Just curious to hear it from an NFL players perspective. How do you feel about that?"

Does Chicago Have a New Top Dog?
as most of us know now, Jerry Angelo recently handed Mike Martz an interesting new toy, Chester Taylor. The question I have is who should get the majority of the touches, Matt Forte or Chester Taylor. After comparing the two side-by-side,
Matt Forte's Rushing and Recieving Stats
YEAR TEAM G REC YDS AVG LNG TD
2008 CHI 16 63 477 7.6 19 4
2009 CHI 16 57 471 8.3 37 0
Career 32 120 948 7.9 37 4
YEAR TEAM G ATT YDS AVG LNG TD
2008 CHI 16 316 1238 3.9 50 8
2009 CHI 16 258 929 3.6 61 4
Career 32 574 2167 3.8 61 12
Chester Taylor's Rushing and Recieving Stats
YEAR TEAM G ATT YDS AVG LNG TD
2002 BAL 15 33 122 3.7 17 0
2003 BAL 16 63 276 4.4 32 2
2004 BAL 16 160 714 4.5 47 2
2005 BAL 15 117 487 4.2 52 0
2006 MIN 15 303 1216 4.0 95 6
2007 MIN 14 157 844 5.4 84 7
2008 MIN 16 101 399 4.0 21 4
2009 MIN 16 94 338 3.6 25 1
YEAR TEAM G REC YDS AVG LNG TD
2002 BAL 15 14 129 9.2 20 2
2003 BAL 16 20 132 6.6 23 0
2004 BAL 16 30 184 6.1 23 0
2005 BAL 15 41 292 7.1 20 1
2006 MIN 15 42 288 6.9 24 0
2007 MIN 14 29 281 9.7 50 0
2008 MIN 16 45 399 8.9 47 2
2009 MIN 16 44 389 8.8 33 1
Career 123 265 2094 7.9 50 6
Anyone can see its a difficult decision, but one, I'm sure, Martz and Da Bears are going to love to have.
The fact that Matt Forte's rushing Average per carry has never topped 4 yards and Chester's has topped 4 ypc six out of his 8 years in the league is one reason why I feel Chester Taylor should get the majority of the carries. Also, at this stage in Taylor's career he is a much accomplished blocker which is a major asset the bears need because we all know how poor the Bear's O-Line is. The Chicago Bears are going to only go as far as Jay Cutler's arm can take them so the back that will stick his neck between the blitzing backer and Jay should be on the field the majority of the time. I think Mike Martz, Jay Cutler, and the Chicago Bears are going to love the new piece Jerry handed them recently.

Atogwe in Bears Radar?
I don't know if anyone has already posted this before or not and if so im sorry for reposting it. I was looking at some rumors and I spotted this 1. I really hope its true and the Bears make a push to try and get Atogwe from St. Louis.
I believe if we do get Atogwe our Defense will be set and we can focus on our O-line in the draft.
