2012 WCG Awards

2012 WCG Awards: Most Valuable Player

And now, the grand finale. On Wednesday, Matt Forte was named the Offensive Player of the Year. On Friday, we had a bit of an impasse as to the Defensive Player of the Year, and thanks to your votes, that debate was solved - Brian Urlacher is named the WCG Defensive Player of the Year.

But there's one final vote to reveal, and that is the MVP race. One last time, hit the jump to see how we voted.

2012 WCG Awards: Defensive Player of the Year

Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year finalist? Yes. WCG Defensive Player of the Year finalist? What do you think?

On Wednesday, we handed out the first of the offseason Big Three awards, and today we'll be handing out the second. Frankly, I'm not surprised as to the... ahem... "variety" of players voted on for the Offensive Player of the Year (Cutler, Forte) and I'm not really surprised as to the winner of that one. This one will turn out just as close, possibly even closer. How close? Hit the jump for our Defensive Player of the Year votes...

2012 WCG Awards: Offensive Player of the Year

Now that we are officially in a football Twilight Zone - the season's been over, it's not quite free agency, and things aren't exactly blazing with the draft - things are just a little slow right now. But that hasn't stopped us from reeling off our own offseason awards. Last Wednesday we named the Newcomer of the Year, Friday was the Most Improved Player of the Year, and Sunday was the Victory of the Year. Today, we start off the Big Three with the Offensive Player of the Year.

Our votes? Hit the jump.

2012 WCG Awards: Victory of the Year

I wonder if this has anything to with our Victory of the Year.

Our awards ceremony rolls on - last time, we awarded the Most Improved Player of the Year. But this time, we aren't rewarding specific players. No no no. Instead, this round, we're voting on the Victory of the Year - that one win that for whatever reason was the greatest.

Want to see what our writers had in mind? Hit the jump...

2012 WCG Awards: Chicago Bears Most Improved Player of the Year

The awards don't stop. While TJ is trying to nail down the best Bear (which should be an excellent series, although I am disappointed Kuma didn't get in there), we're continuing to hand out the actual Chicago Bears' end-of-season awards. Last week we handed out the Rookie. Wednesday we handed out the Newcomer of the Year, and tonight we're going to move to the Most Improved Player of the Year - last year's Bears that might have had a down year yet rose to the occasion this season. Want more? Hit the jump to see how we voted...

2012 WCG Awards: Chicago Bears Newcomer of the Year

Last week, we started awarding our own series of awards dedicated to the Chicago Bears, which Chris Conte won in unanimous fashion. This time, we're handing an award (and we'll take your recommendation for names - the Grizzlies? The WCG-ies?) out to the Newcomer of the Year - the best free agent signing, draft pick, trade target, or otherwise recently acquired player. And remember how I said Conte won unanimously (and set the record for number of Chris Conte mentions in a single FP story)? Not so this time. Hit the jump and see how the WCG staffers voted...

2012 WCG Awards: Chicago Bears Rookie of the Year

This year, we decided to get the Windy City Gridiron Writers' Association together for another series of posts, this time handing out awards to the team's most deserving players. If you couldn't tell by the title, we'll be starting by awarding the Bears' Rookie of the Year. Follow us past the jump and we'll get to each writer's pick for the award...
