NightLinks: Turner Says Cutler's Struggles Aren't Vision-related
In what has been a hot topic for both main-stream media and small football blogs, offensive coordinator Ron Turner addresses the speculation that Jay Cutler's struggles this year could be sight-related.
''I think it is totally a coincidence, I really do,'' Turner said. ''It's not a situation where it's night, it's prime time and maybe he's trying to force the issue too much. That is not the case. I went back and looked at all of them -- that hasn't been the case. I don't know.''
When one reporter brought up the fact that Vinny Testaverde was color-blind, and also had trouble throwing picks, Turner responded:

NightLink: A Deviation from the Standard Norm
Usually, the NightLink is a pretty serious topic among us writers; we want to make sure that we have good Bears information up here. Never fear, WCG'ers, I'm here to break up the monotony.
1st order of business: New changes to WCG
As of around 4 PM today, Dane nominated me as the Official WCG Body Language Coach. If anyone has any qualms with any Bears players, coaches, or front-office managers, please let me know and I'll give 'em a call and coach em up. With fire and passion.

NightLink: Can the Bears Still "Salvage the Season"?
We all know that teams will have mandatory "diplomacy" rules when speaking to the media, but sometimes it can be entertaining to hear what they are saying.
Tommie Harris:
"We have to win out," said defensive tackle Tommie Harris. "We have no room to get any more losses. If you lose again, you’re going to be hoping that another team loses for you to get in. You don’t want to be in that position. We were in that position last year. It’s basically in our hands right now."

NightLink: New Website For Stat-Happy People
There's a new website out there that has some incredible work being done called ProFootballFocus. From their home page:
What we do ...
For every game we analyze and grade every player on every play to provide you with the most in-depth statistics you can find anywhere outside the team's film room. If you want to know how your RG performed as a run blocker or how your MLB did in coverage use the By Team or By Week tabs as a starting point to locate your games.
For every game we log which players are on the field on every offensive and defensive play AND what they do. Want to know how much your rookie WR played, how much help your LT got in pass protection from the TE or how your defense line up on 3-1? Once you've found your game, click on the Player Participation link at the bottom of each 'game box'.

NightLink: Payne Out, Afalava Questionable
If Al Afalava cannot play tomorrow, we will see either Craig Steltz or Josh Bullocks step in, because Kevin Payne has been officially ruled out.
Now that the official injury report has been filed with the league, we know the Bears could be in trouble at the safety position Thursday night against the 49ers. Safety Kevin Payne is listed as out with a back injury. The good news is safety Al Afalava is questionable with a shoulder injury.
We need Afalava's run support against the Niners, especially with Hunter Hillenmeyer still nursing his rib injuries. I am not sure what Bullocks would bring to the table, but Steltz could at least do a decent job in run support. Luckily, we aren't facing a team that is likely to challenge us with the deep ball.

NightLink II: Looking at Thursday
Just some quick notes to throw out your way this evening... all (except one) centered around the game Thursday.
Mike Singletary says that the Bears will always be a team he loves, and talks about the emotions of playing us.
TE Vernon Davis says that the SF offense will destroy the Bears defense up front.
And Brad Biggs tweets that former Bear WR Mike Hass was cut from the Seahawks.
And just a side note, Al Afalava did not practice today... we may very well see Craig Steltz this Thursday.

NightLink: How to fix the Bears
Today in his Monday Morning QB-Tuesday edition, Peter King of Sports Illustrated took an email question from Joseph of Chicago that started out like this:
If you're the Chicago Bears' management, who are you more inclined to fire, Lovie Smith or Ron Turner?
He goes on to get more in detail with his question, bashing both Turner and Smith, even bashing Lovie for being an ineffective drafter, a point King immediately corrects.

NightLink: What Happens to Tommie?
After seeing our oft-troubled defensive lineman tally another strike against his name yesterday, today we are left with wondering what happens next. Tommie Harris spoke today about his actions against Deuce Lutui.
I was embarrassed, especially for my actions. I apologized to him yesterday, called Larry [Fitzgerald] and had a chance to apologize to him,'' Harris said at his locker this afternoon. "I just wanted to apologize to my fans first off, and the little kids out there that saw that action. I shouldn't have behaved in that manner, and I apologized to my teammates, and I'll make up for it.
