BEARS Fall To The Seahawks 30-23
The Bears didn't have to have this game to make the playoffs, but they sure could have used it.
Benson had what I believe is the best run of his NFL career breaking off a 43 yarder for a TD. He had 46 yards on 10 attempts for a 4.6 yard average outside that run. Adrian Peterson went 11 yards including a TD.
Grossman had an alright day throwing for 266 with no INTs, but also no TDs.
Grossman was moving the ball around fairly well. Bernard Berrian had 9 receptions for 102 yards. Mushin Muhammad had 71 yards and Olsen had 43.
Devin Hester had 4 kickoff returns for a total of 116 yards.
I don't know how much ones takes away from a game like this. On the plus side Grossman played well, but that doesn't exactly mean he is on the road to recovery.
The defense didn't do much of anything to inspire confidence allowing 337 through the air and 103 total on the ground.

Rex and the defense.
But the defense today was miserable. It's like they never met a third down they couldn't wait to see converted. It was like watching an eighth grader play Madden on all-pro mode for the first time, watching what seemed like every pass go complete for ten-plus yards. I thought maybe they'd be embarrassed into stiffening after realizing exactly how bad they looked at halftime, but clearly they were proud to have just gotten on the field on time.
Who cares about the playoffs? Who do we expect to beat if we manage to squeak in?

it seems to be a recurring theme with our defense

thanks for a good laugh
on another note, this was the best I have seen Benson look (obviously including, but even after the 2 big initial runs) on a limited 11 carry sample. so I'm wondering why the sample was so small.

playoffs
I suppose you're right technically that you 'didn't have to have this one', but 5-5 in the NFC is far more managable than 4-6 at this point. You do have the Skins left which helps, and you have a head-t0-head tie break over the Eagles, but man is this a tall hill to climb for Chicago.

Transitive property of sports
Just cause Washington played Dallas tough and we got killed by them means nothing.
Philly beat Washington and we beat Philly so we will beat Washington. Nope. It doesn't work that way.

I'm sure
vs Broncos
vs Giants
@ Redskins
@ Vikings
vs Green Bay
vs Saints
(Please note, we have one home victory this year)
3-3 should be considered a moral victory....

Disagree
We should win 3 of 4 home games (the Pack may have clinched their playoff spot by then so maybe 4 of 4) then at least 1 road game.

Pack could/should
We should beat Denver and New Orleans, Vikings are the only other "should" win game in there but well we couldn't beat them at home and it took a miracle just to be even in that game.

vs Giants WIN
@ Redskins LOSE
@ Vikings WIN - NO PURPLE JESUS THIS TIME OR PLAYING HURT
vs Green Bay CAN WIN
vs Saints WIN
So 4 - 2 and maybe 5 -1.

Your optimism
Vikes got 158 yards with Chester Taylor, I think it's the O-line along with the back and Peterson should be fine by then.
No idea why you'd pencil in a win over the Giants. It might happen, of course, but the Bears will be 5 pt underdogs at least.

Tell you why...
- I think Minnesota blows. Without Purple Jesus in that game, he Bears win. They still have no QB or WR that are worth a damn.
- The Giants are beat up and I fear not the little Manning. Between Brandon Jacobs, Ruben Droughns and Derrek Ward, none can play a full game. And Burress has been hurt all year and it's shown.

I bet you
I have no idea what you've seen this year that makes you think the Bears are any good or better than anybody but the Raiders, Falcons, 49ers or Dolphins.

4-6 record
Lots of really poorly played football and a defense that does nothing well consistently.
No idea why you think the Bears are any good this year...
Defense has just been bad, can't run the ball on offense and the passing game is average at best. There's not one team out there that we're playing that is significantly worse than us.
