Bears Sweep Packers, Win 35-7

Let us start this by recalling something a Packers fan left us prior to this game:

This man had the gumption to take over a bedraggled franchise and immediately declare that the Bears would start beating Green Bay, disregarding the fact his two predecessors had lost 20 of the previous 23 games in a stale series. What's more, in comments that are echoing through Chicago today like carols at Christmas, Smith said of the Packers,

"I've been on the winning side the last five times I've played them, so I think I know how to beat them."

I guess the eating is going to be done by their side today.

The Bears will miss the playoffs, but they got the next best thing. They swept the Green Bay Packers and in a big way. The QB spot is still a sore spot as Orton threw for 101 yards, 1TD and 0INT. Adrian Peterson had a good game with 102 yards and 1TD.

As was last year defense and special teams won the game. Corey Graham ran back a TD on a Charles Tillman blocked punt and Urlacher had a 85 yard INT return for a TD.

Favre threw for only 158 yards and had no TDS and 2 INTs. Grant had 100 yards, but 66 of that was on his one TD run. The Bears kept him in check the rest of the day.

Adrian Peterson had a good game with 102 yards and 1TD.

He also took 30 carries to do it.

I didn't watch most of the game, so I can't really comment on how well he looked, but I would say that 3.4 yards/carry is not good.

And I didn't realize that was Urlacher's first pick-6 of his career.

then watch the game

in a cold, windy, snowy game everyone and their brother knows the running back is getting the ball, and that is on a normal team. on a Bears team with a QB who hasn't yet proven that he can throw it the whole damn family knows Peterson is getting the ball. Give the guy some credit, he played really well. No point in ripping a guy if you didn't even watch him

I was just saying that his yards/carry didn't look good, and I acknowledged that I didn't see most of the game to see how he actually looked.

3.4 yards/carry does suck

That is Benson's yards per carry average this year and 102 yards is more yards than Benson had in any game this year.

At least AP has a heart and does not look to fall down or run out of bounds to avoid a hit.

And 3.4 yrds/carr sucks. But that doesn't necessarily mean the running back sucks.

I see a difference. Just a different difference than you see.

I see Cedric Benson being a significantly better runner than Adrian Peterson.

Now with that said... as I have already mentioned up front, I did not see most of Sunday's game, so I can't really comment on how AP actually looked against the Packers. But I can say that he hasn't looked good in any other game that I have seen him in.

Don't worry. Peterson didn't do anything special.

He got 1/4 of his yards on the first drive in which it was obvious that the offensive line came out with a purpose.

Maybe this is what you were referring to, but the difference in the two isn't that Peterson is a better runner, but that he's a better receiver out of the backfield.

I feel confident in saying that if Benson could catch or run routes better or whatever it is, he'd get a lot more touches and be a lot better runner than Peterson.

ap looked fine

i watched the game so i'll comment on it. when he had a hole he did something with it, and when he got hit in the backfield he actually got away once instead of falling down like china doll benson. o line came out playing hard the first series then reverted for much of the game as their old selves.

orton had a perfectly fine game, wr's had 2 drops, one being a touchdown pass. his numbers considering the climate were great.

great day by the special teams.

we should have put up at least another 10 points.

Orton's back-to-back lob passes...

...were perfect considering the weather. I didn't think about it at the time, because they were so perfect, but later, I thought, "Wow, he either go super lucky in his touch twice in a row, or he knew exactly how to play that wind."

Granted, they weren't super high and the wind could have died right then, but still...

What'd he go? 4-4, then 0-6, then 4-4... something like that.
