More on the Archuleta, Briggs Update
There might have been more to the this deal happening then just Archuleta's on field ability and getting rid of big contract numbers.
It wouldn't matter if he was playing at a Pro Bowl level, but for 4th stringers, that type of think gets you shipped out.
According to this article says Archuleta is expected to be our starting strong safety playing next to Danieal Manning. That would suggest the the Bears are not going to put their eggs in Mike Brown's basket. The Bears are expected to approach Brown about a contract restructure. Brown's contract pays him 2.49 million each of the next two years and if he doesn't agree the Brown may be on his way out. However, if he does agree and comes off the bench the safety position becomes a strength for us, with two former starters on the bench.
****************
Lance Brigg's agent was on The Best Damn Sports Show and in it he outlined the options for Briggs, one did include him returning to the Bears. He said there has been interest from some other teams about acquiring Briggs. Those teams are believed to be the Washington Redskins (who are interested in everybody), the Seattle Seahawks and the San Francisco 49ers.

What about...
Has anyone even heard any rumors about what the Bears would be looking for if they dealt Briggs?

Could happen, but
Hopefully, they can find a team with a better one if that is the plan.

The Coaches were obviously pissed. Also our defense was in shambles at the time which didn't help.

Sun-Times article on the trade
Here's an interesting "rumor":
Emphasis mine. "Expected"??? Has anyone heard this? Not reading too much into it. Curious as to what others think of this move/moves.

PLEASE
And why do they need to move Manning to cornerback? Isn't this why they signed Ricky Manning Jr? To be a replacement for Tillman (hopefully) when they let him walk?
We need to bring in a freaking Free Safety to help in coverage. We have Manning, the only true free safety...and then Harris, Brown and Arch; who are all true strong safeties and cannot do a whole lot in coverage.

Briggs' Delusion Tour
That leaves just two.
Mr Briggs, you can either shut up and play next year and hope the Bears are sufficiently close to the cap to disallow them to "franchise" you again, allowing you to then become a free agent.
Or.
You can sit on you sofa for zero dollars, drastically reducing the amount any team will pay you as a free agent (if you in deed reach free agency). Hell, if the Bears really wanted to screw you, they just flop the tag on you again in '08.
Jerry Angelo and Ted Phillips are not going to be strong-armed by a player, especially a player who plays an eminently replaceable position. Lance Briggs is trying to play poker, but everyone in the game knows he has a bust hand.
Good luck on your Delusion Tour, idiot!

they
a trade is still a possibility, albeit not that likely this late in the game.
the redskins are always willing to deal picks, and always interested in the big-name guy. i don't want to get too excited, but the redskins do have the 6th pick, and with that and the picks we have, we would certainly have the ammo to get calvin johnson, the most sure thing of the last few drafts. but that's a pipe dream.

How's LaVarr Arrington feeling?
I'm just gauging interest, I really don't know enough about him other than he seemed like a monster who had some problems sticking with a scheme.

I've been watching Arrington decline every year for several years now. I would think the fact that the Giants cut him and the Skins let him walk would prove that...
