WCG Mock Draft- Houston (#10)

10. Houston- Adrian Peterson, RB, Oklahoma

If Peterson falls this far its a easy choice for the Texans. They should of taken Reggie Bush last year there is no denying that especially after Dominick Williams got hurt.  But Adrian give the Texans what they lack so badly last year and that was a running threat. Peterson if healthy is one will be one of the best backs in the league year in and year out.

With this pick its gives the Texans a nice three headed monster of Schuab, Peterson and Johnson

Drafter- Scruffy Lefty

On the clock- San Francisco (RME JICO)

HELLO!
It is DW and not DD! He changed his name to Dominick Williams in the offseason.

Grossman article

nice piece about Grossman working on his fundamentals. Big thing apparently is getting him to  step up in the pocket more consistently, one of my biggest problems with his game.

Easy pick but...
no way in hell Peterson drops this far down, (no fault of your own of course). I say he goes to the Browns or Vikes.

Agreed
I actually sent in a pick to WCG for Minnesota in case the official one didn't come in.  I had them taking AP.  But I think AP is already packing his bags for Cleveland.

I could see that...
If they're worried about his injuries and such, might not want him risking injury. Jamal Lewis could be used as the short-yardage/endzone guy for one year.

I really don't see Minnesota taking him after paying Taylor and the relatively good year he had. But ya never know............

I tend to agree that
AP doesn't get this far, but not my call either.

Chester Taylor...
Is nothing special.  We had Thomas Jones and took Ced Benson.  You do not passover a total stud workhorse like AP (remember a collar bone injury is nothing like joint or tendon problem) for a run of the mill back like Taylor.

I'm pretty sure most people have questioned...
the drafting of Ced Benson. I thought you were one of them. Guess not.

The Vikings are also many more pieces away from being a good team than the Bears were.

I understand your strategy... but I disagree with it. When you have holes to fill, you don't double up on a position that isn't a hole because you already have something above average there.

As much as I like Adrian Peterson, I don't think taking him would be a good move.

I had problems with Benson...
Cause I didn't think he was that great.  I also really wanted Mike Williams.  We had serious holes on this team yet we chose Ced for the same reasons that I outlined.  Looking back at that draft class, there wasn't much that we missed out on overall.  Sure you can point to Sean Merriman or to a lesser extent, DeMarcus Ware, but they would have been a stretch at #4.  As well, Merriman is a roid user who wouldn't have been as good with out them.  At #4, there was no standout picks left.

I do agree with that....
I think Adrian Peterson has a better future right now than anyone in that draft had at the time. It's hard to say for sure, of course, but I think there are five or six guys in this draft that could have gone #1.
