Chicago Bears Depth Chart

One semi meaningless game down and a few more to go and this article takes a look at where the Bears roster sits and who looks to lose out versus who is fighting to make the roster.

Wide receivers: (6)
Locks: Muhsin Muhammad, Bernard Berrian, Mark Bradley, Devin Hester, Rashied Davis.

Breakdown: Hester actually deserves his own position group--Athlete--because of the variety of ways the Bears will use him. Bradley has lined up at times in the slot position, opening up the possibility of being on the field at the same time as Berrian and Muhammad--a dangerous combination. Davis still proved too tough in the clutch to lose too many snaps, and he is durable. The sixth and final spot will come down to camp cult hero Mike Hass and Brandon Rideau. Nobody has shown more dependable hands than Hass, who still has to prove he has enough speed to separate. Rideau, a taller and better athlete typically favored by Smith, has lacked Hass' consistency but outperformed Hass in the first exhibition game with three catches for 43 yards. But if special teams remain a concern, is a sixth wide receiver more valuable than an extra cornerback or linebacker?

Mike Haas has got "IT"
I'm not exactly sure what "it" is, but Mike Haas has got "it".
I live in Oregon and watched Mike over is 4 year career at Oregon State where he always came through when the game was on the line, when it really counted. The Bears would be smart to make room for Mike.

The problem for me is...
...I find it hard with the WR's and TE's they have that he'll ever be in the game in a meaningful play. Not unless there are two or three injuries or we wait 2 or 3 years.

i have no real opinion of the guy, but I like this team's young depth at WR. Pending Bradley's health, he'll probably have to go to a different team to get his chance. Then again, if he sticks with it, as mentioned in another diary, I wouldn't be surprised if this is the last year of Muhammed, Davis and Clark. (probably not, just saying 'maybe') That could open a fourth WR slot for him.

Not sure if anyone will catch this...
But i was just wondering...anyone remember Domanic Davis for the Texans? Well he changed his name to Domanick Williams for some retarded ass reason and i'm pretty sure he was cut by the Texans at some point while he was out with his devestating knee injury...but wouldn't it benefit the Bears to maybe bring this guy in? If JA is really lookin for another halfback, this guy was a star with the Texans and he shouldn't be expensive or anything, still only 26 or 27, think he'd be worth a little risk?

Agreed.
He has talent. But maybe he's asking for too much. He's the best available right now. Maybe the cuts will put more reliable players out there, and drive Williams' price down, too.

Childish...
Don't be childish.

It wasn't a "retarded" reason at all.  You can read about it here

As for picking him up?  I would be interested, except he hasn't played in over a year (he sat on the IR last year) and his knees are allegedly toast.  But with healthy knees he could/would be a serviceable backup.

Is this Moose's last year?
Anyone think he'll retire after this year?  Or did he already announce that?
I wouldn't ever go out to hurt anybody deliberately - unless it was, you know, important, like a league game or something. - Dick Butkus

I don't think he retires
I think he believes he still has a lot to offer a team and I would agree that one the right team he could.  We seem to be building up a stable of speed receivers and deep threats.  Aside from our TEs, he really is the only possession receiver we have.

i think he'll play this year and next...
and after that he'll probably call it quits.

although it will depend on how he does this year as well...
