Peter King Goes Off His Wagon Again

This must be why everybody likes Peter King, for the most part he goes with public opinion, but in the middle of every thing he does he does something just plain stupid.

SI is asking some of their writers to do a All-Time Team, which Payton, Sayers and Butkus were on, a Right Now Team and a In 5 years team.

So everything is cruising until I look at his reserves for the right now team.  Behind Peyton Manning and Tom Brady is Vince Young. Vince Freakin Young, on the Right Now Team?  Did we forget about Carson Palmer or Marc Bulger or a QB that can actually currently throw the ball.

King already had Young as his starter on the In 5 Years team, did he need to force his new man crush on to a second list?  He put Devin Hester on his right now Special Teams even though this is only his 2nd year, but on his In 5 Years Special Teams he put Ted Ginn Jr.  Is a proven return man already so old and skills so degraded that he goes in favor of a guy who hasn't played a down yet?

Peter King is what he is and makes no bones about it and he is always good for a post a month, but even though we know what to expect he still boggles the mind some times.

Take a look at the lists and let me know if I missed anymore completely idiotic choices.

On
his future team he didn't have Tommie Harris, which seemed wrong.  A case could be made for Mark Anderson too.

Ted Gunn Jr.
While I agree that the explosive game breaking return skills can fade quickly, how can Ted Gunn be there in five years but not Hester.  Hester was a rookie last year.  It's not like he's five years in.

He has Reggie Bush on his right now team.  And no Olin Kruetz.

Putz.

Gunn?
I don't know why I spelled it like that.

Love affair
King's love affair with Vince Young is unbelievable. He ranked him in the top 10 of QBs playing this year.  Sure Young made some great plays last year but I don't think he is a top 10 QB.

Kruetz should have been the current center of choice.  I think King, like a lot of SI writers have a pretty bad image of the Bears.  Thats why they all picked NO in the championship game last year and have picked them for this years Super Bowl.

i remember...
back in, i think it was 1985, that SI did a cover story on the 1995 All Pro Team.  The only people I can remember being on that team were Anthony Munoz and Michigan State Sophomore Andre Rison.

I wish i could find that list.  So if anyone has a link to search through SI back issues, post it.  I would be glad to look it up.

I am NOT going to that list.
Peter King is an idiot, and I will not give him one more "reader." He's like the dumb blonde John Clayton, if that makes any sense. He wants to be everywhere and talk about everything, yet he absolutely sucks.

This is not an exact quote, but I bet you could find something very similar:

"When I arrived in [Colts' training camp], I saw Jeff Saturday walk out of the locker room for the first practice of the day. He looked like a football player. At that moment, I KNEW that he is going to have his best year ever in 2007."

What? Really?

Bears snubs
Tommie Harris, Olin Kruetz, and Mark Anderson.

These guys need to be on one of the lists.  Warren Sapp?
