Chicago Bears vs. Indianapolis Colts Preseason Game Thread

The Bears and the Colts meet up again to play a game that means little to either.

Where-RCA Dome
When- 7 PM CST

Things to watch.

Rex Grossman- Can he stay consistent. It would also be nice to see a little of this aerial attack we keep hearing about.  How about a bomb to Berrian to kick this thing off?

Brian Urlacher and Tommie Harris- Both Pro Bowlers will be seeing their first preseason action.

Greg Olsen- It would be nice to see more of what he can offer down the field.

Devin Hester- I know they aren't giving away the farm with him, but how about a quick reverse just for the fans?

Secondary- Manning is in town, can they handle it?

Special Teams-  The best special teams in the league looked anything but last week.  Dave Toub said it can all be corrected.  Let us hope so.

I could be wrong...
But I think they just said Tommie is out with "General Soreness"

First Fumble
wasn't really his fault.  The receivers weren't even out of their breaks yet when the Defensive player made a perfect slap on the ball.

Agreed, but...
the pick and the second fumble were his fault.

I'm one of Grossman's biggest supporters around her, but... Oy.

yep
Well the one thing to take from it is at least he wasn't throwing off his back foot :(

by cltcprd on Aug 20, 2007 7:53 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I dunno...
he didn't exactly step forward into it, either. He wasn't backpedaling, but i'd still call it bad mechanics.

Not really...
... it was more of a bad decision than bad mechanics.  The throw was fine, but he tried to force it into a place he shouldn't have.

all the shit floating back up to the surface again.

Is it just me...
or did Grossman bounce the ball off the end zone on his way in?

by shawndgoldman on Aug 20, 2007 8:04 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

wow that was descriptive
i also thought he bounced it off the turf.

who cares?
Not that it matters though, once the ball crosses the plane everything else is mute.

It probably doesn't matter...
Its one of those things that i probably make nothing of if the guy that did it doesn't have a history of turnovers in bundles.

You're right - its probably me making more of it than it really is. Still disconcerting, though, given the context.

make that...
the Bears special teams are good.

even if rex wasn't sucking
i would really like to see orton against a first string D, unless Grossman has year where he lights it up not just through luck but by actual good play it may be a tough decision whether or not he he gets resigned, it would be nice to know what we have with Orton.

I love the Bears special teams right now
Manning Jr. and Hester must be having return parties together. They are so much fun.

I think Tommie Harris is fine and they are just being extra careful with him.

The offense is not pleasing me right now.

benson
hasn't looked real inspired to me so far, but it's preseason.

The coverage teams have also been fantastic...
which is good, given the problems they had in week -4.

I expected more
from Rex. Maybe next game.

Uhhh Sue...
More what? He needs less.  Just kidding.

I am very surprised by that performance.  He looked like the same guy that mailed it in on New Years Eve.

cockroach
Rex's game is like that of a cockroach. When the lights shine on him, his game scatters.

It seemed like he got rattled after having the ball slapped out oh his hand on the opening drive. The play before that, he looked good rolling out of the pocket to find Berrian for a 15-yd strike on the sideline. Hopefully he will be looking over what went wrong tonight and working on it to correct it. I get the feeling he's going to do all but sleep with Olin Kreutz this week to get that minor thing called 'snapping' down.

Unleash your inner Grabowski.
