Bears Move UP In Power Polls

Despite losing last week's game to the Chargers and losing two defensive starters, the Bears actually moved up 2 and 3 places in 2 of these polls.

I can only assume with the losses that the Saints and Eagles took, the Bears defense is worth the extra places.

ESPN- 4(4)

Things quickly have turned bad for the Bears. Not only did they lose to the Chargers, but Rex Grossman and Cedric Benson are still in the starting lineup. And now the defense has lost two starters to season-ending injuries.

FOX- 4(6)

Turnovers and offensive inconsistency cost the Bears Sunday in San Diego. Though the defense looked stellar, Lovie Smith and Ron Turner's offense simply couldn't get it going against the favored Chargers. Four turnovers, a shaky running game, and missed opportunities throughout the game haunted Chicago. Both Cedric Benson and Adrian Peterson fumbled in big spots during the second half, sealing the game for San Diego. The loss of Mike Brown will hurt the defense, but the Bears can get on track against Kansas City this Sunday. It's a winnable game. That is, of course, if the Bears offense decides to show up.

CBS- 7(10)

At some point, they have to open up their offense. If Rex Grossman can't do it, go somewhere else. Playing it safe doesn't work.

Yep, as I've said before ...
they're the "E!" of the 'sports' broadcasters.  They're even worse than Fox Sports now, and that's sayin' A LOT.  There is, simply, no good place for analysis except for maybe NFL Network.

Who's Now? was sooo tre cool ... I'd always Tivo it before turning back to One Tree Hill and the OC.

"A winnable game"
LOL, that is the best comment ever concerning the Bear vs Chiefs game.  If the Bears don't win by 21, I'd be shocked.

Dr. Z
Even though I felt they were ranked too high* in some of the polls, at least they didn't piss on the Bears as bad as Dr.Z did at SI. To wit:
10     --     Chicago Bears
Chicago Bears (0-1)
San Diego LB Matt Wilhelm on the instructions his position coach Ron Rivera gave about trash talking to Rex Grossman: "He told us that Rex was kind of a mental midget so you can get into his head and create that doubt." Careful, there's not much room.

* 7 is where I'd place them

ha
what a prick. good for him, when you're as worthless as he is you need to do someting to get your readership up.

it's amazing to me that a 3rd playing year quarterback gets ths kind of shit.

I'm impressed a guy that mentally challenged has been able to hold up to the media slamming so well.

I hope the guy absolutely destroys the league.

any of you concerned that I am a Rex homer won't have to look far back into my comments to see that isn't the case.

the irritating thing
To me the irritating thing is all the abuse that gets heaped upon Grossman (sometimes deserved, often not). Then wanting Rex to prove all of his doubters wrong only to have another Rex meltdown. That said, I thought he played better than his stats would indicate on Sunday, especially after starting the game off by getting smoked for a sack.

And WTF is up with the Titans being ranked #4? It defies all logic. Z being Z I guess.

Rex ...
faced more pressure and bullshit from the media last year than anyone.  And probably more criticism than any Super Bowl QB I can remember for a while.  Anyone remember Dilfer catching that much shit in '00-01?

The media beat up on Rex to loosen their muscles so that they can genuflect in front of their Tony Romo shrines.  SOS, different season.
