Gross Has Been Franchised

Unable to come to terms with tackle Jordan Gross, the Carolina Panthers are planning to franchise him.

Assuming that he is interested in seeing who might be interested and that the Bears are considering offering Faneca some decent money any takers on making a run at Gross?

"We weren't able to get a contract done today, so we'll put the tag on him tomorrow," Hurney said.

He wasn't going to elaborate. Gross will remain Panthers property, and they can still work on a long-term deal, but that's not sounding terribly likely right now.

Wow
I hadn't even thought of that.  Not sure whether I should leave it and reap the rewards of traffic from a misread title or change it?:)

Any takers though?

Not for the franchise price
I think he and Lilja were my top targets for the off-season. Both are off the market now, though.

THIS IS WHY YOU NEVER LET YOUNG OFFENSIVE LINEMEN GO!!! And why I will be forever bitter (well, until they get young on the o-line again) about Colombo.

If you guys were true fans...
You should have looked at the list of UNRISTRICTED free agents out there, and in my opinion I was hoping that the bears would land this guy.  He is a former first round pick, who is a starter, and has only been in the league for 5 years, so if the bears got him he would be around for a while to come.  This tag upsets me, because I feel that this guy was flying under the radar so to speak with Faneca and the guy who can't hear correctly and causes way too many false start penalties....Flozell Adams, being free agents.  This guy in my opinion was the best possible free agent offensive tackle out there due to age and performance, especially with our offensive tackle issues (Fred Miller).  Oh well, I guess that option is gone now!!  Damn
