Briggs All But Gone

Obviously, with the Bears total unwillingness to give anybody their money, Lance Briggs is all but on his way out.

The Bears have stated they believe the 49ers are the favorites to land him.

Lance Briggs and Patrick Willis, now there is a nice linebacking corp to run with for the next 6 or 7 years.

I am officially jealous.

with that said... of Grossman, Briggs, and Berrian, Briggs is probably my lowest priority.

proof?
I still believe we have a chance of signing him.

biglowitzki - why is briggs your lowest priority when he is handsdown the best out of that group?

He's a good linebacker
but the fact of the matter is, he is just another product of Urlacher (but he's still good, just want to make that clear) and he would cost a ton of money  that we could be spending on other players or free-agents.
I am like your Dan Aykroyd and biglow would be Jane, the ignorant slut. -Chad

probably because we have some depth
there in Okwo and Williams.

Not so much at WR and I guess it depends on your opinion of our other QB's about Grossman.

Exactly
Briggs is good.  Probably very good (though I am a little skeptical about whether he will be as good outside of the Bears system and away from Urlacher).

But I think that Jamar Williams will be able to step up and perform at a decent enough level.

I don't think that the Bears have a Jamar Williams at WR or QB.

No wonder the Bears think the 49ers are favorites

Bears filed tampering charges against them....

guess the Bears/49ers discussed a trade in October for Briggs.

That's Not Right
If they loose a pick it should go to the team they were tampering against.  They tamper, get a probowler and only loose a pick. We get screwed and loose our guy because he already knows what he can get elsewhere.

niners
are putting together a pretty decent defense out there and they've got a nice back in gore. looks like qb will be their achilles heal much like it has been for us for some time.
