Darren McFadden To The Bears

So the current rumor du jour is the Bears might look to trade up to get Darren McFadden. I wonder if having to face Adrian Peterson twice last year changed their thinking?

Either way, this is still heavy rumor only. I think the Bears would not be willing to give up the amount of draft picks it would take to get down to 6 or 7 to take a shot; however if McFadden fell to around 10 that is a while other story.

So the question to you is do you value McFadden enough over Mendenhall, Jones, Stewart or some later round pick like Forte that you'd want to move up to get him?

still want a Tackle.

I still want them to get a baller offensive tackle over any of the RBs. Its just a more sensible way to go.

Let me throw this out to you

Say we move up and get McFadden.

Just for the sake of this example we will say the give up their 1st and 2nd next year and a third this year.

So they take McFadden in the first.

In the second they take a guy like Sam Baker.

Then address QB in the third.

Would that be good or are you dead set on Clady, Otah, Cherilus or Williams?

if Baker will even be around by our second pick, though. I'm more leaning towards the best OT available in the first, then Felix Jones or Ray Rice in round 2. We have too many holes to give up picks. It seems pretty obvious that we're taking an o-lineman or an RB in the first, but has everyone cooled on picking up Flacco in the 2nd if he's there?

This is good in theory

but there's no way to tell if somebody like Baker will be there in the 2nd. You can't draft based on "what if" or "hopefully, he's there in the 2nd". Plus, if they trade all those picks and the Bears suck again, then rebuilding is probably next and how will we do that with no 1st or 2nd in the next years draft?

And yes it is very possible that Sam Baker falls to the second. The draft is loaded with offensive linemen and they are not all going in the first.

A lot of mocks have him mid 2nd. Some teams will pass on a linemen knowing there will be some available later.

No. I would rather stand pat and take a Stewart or Mendenhall. Its not worth all the draft picks with all the spots we need to fill. Maybe if we had made a bigger splash in FA....

offensive line in first!!

The first pick should be an offensive lineman. Get a strong oline and it does not matter who is quarterback or runningback. Remember Brady looked very average in the Super Bowl with a pass rush in his face. McFadden has bust written all over him. Look for a runningback with a work ethic and no character questions. Speed is nice, but remember Walter Payton was not considered fast, but he played with a lot of heart. I am sure you can find a running back like that in the second round or lower. Just find a back who can make the first guy miss and break a tackle.

Walter didn't have 'break away speed' but he had unbelievable moves and vision and was a strong as iron.

Sure he had heart, but he had a boatload of athletic ability.

RBs = Overrated

RBs are the most overrated position in football. Anyone want to look at the years Stephen Jackson or Larry Johnson had once their stud lineman went down w/ injury or retired? Or how about Shaun A's career since Steve Hutch left? Wait, isn't Hutch blocking for Adrian Peterson in Minn now? What a coincidence....

Like it or not, the difference between the best RB & worst RB is negated when running behind an inept OL. The combo of Benson / Peterson / Wolfe is serviceable for this year. We need OL help. If their were a stud WR like Calvin johnson last year, i would say maybe trade up, but there's not.

normally i would agree with this

but for all intents and purposes we also
do not have a running back. he sucked healthy and he'll suck with a plate in his leg. he's been a pussy since he's been here, his teamates don't seem to like him, and it seems like he only gives a shit when he's already lost his job. if there is a stud rb at wherever we pick, or an easy way to get one without giving a ton of picks go do it.

if you're looking to build a strong team and there's a homerun hitter like mendenhall or mcfadden bring him to chicago. this would sound a lot better if they signed some fa lineman by now, but maybe drafting a tackle and starting beekman will be enough.

Can the Bears even field a full offensive line with their current roster? I guess they can just put Israel Idonije in there, he plays pretty much every other position on the field.

Pick the best Offensive Lineman.... I don't see a Payton (or even a Neal Anderson) in this draft.

I am sure that this is coming out because the Bears are trying to get the Cowboys to trade up to get McFadden. This way the Bears will get Mendenhall. Without doing this, I thought that the Cowboys may not want to press that hard for McFadden and settle for Mendenhall.

I am saying that I think the Cowboys are trying to trade up. They will take McFadden if they can or Mendenhall as a second choice. JA is trying to push them to trade up higher and get McFadden so that we can nab Mendenhall.

I just don't see

that the Cowboys would be so enamored with Mendenhall that they would trade up and give up both their first-rounders to get him. If they don't move up for McFadden, I can definitely see them taking Felix Jones with one of their first-rounders, since Jerry Jones is obsessed with his alma mater.

Sorry. But while we're here, every Cowboy fan I know is completely in love with Marion Barber III, so I wonder if the overall fan base would be angry if they traded both their first round picks for McFadden when they feel Barber should be the starter and they have other more glaring needs.

I was just talking to the admin at the Cowboys

site and he'd be in favor of still going after McFadden or Mendenhall under the right circumstances.

He isn't interested in giving up the ranch for them, but he'd not discount either of them.

I suppose

it all depends on if the Raiders pass on McFadden, then Dallas would have to make the trade with the Chiefs because the Jets are likely to scoop him up, and I think KC would jump at that in a heartbeat, but Dallas would have to give up a hell of a lot of picks if you go by the trade value chart. Probably their two first-rounders and their second-rounder plus cash.
