Cloak and Dagger Draft Style- Joe Flacco and Andre Woodson Workouts
Be sure to get in on the 4th Annual WCG Mock Draft. We still need participants.
The worst kept secret in all of sports right now is that the Bears want Delaware QB Joe Flacco. Not a single pick in the top 10 is more of a lock than the Bears drafting Flacco in the second.
But if you recall before the off season really kicked off the name most attached to the Bears was Kentucky QB Andre Woodson. Due to a poor Senior Bowl showing and not working out at the combine Woodson has seen his stock drop to as low as the third round.
Recently, both Delaware and Kentucky had their Pro Days. You can bet that Chicago was at Flacco's, but they were one of seven teams that did not send a rep to Woodson's workout.
I am currently putting the over/under on us actually getting Flacco at 30%. I think somebody is going to jump over us and get him late first or with one of the first picks of the second.
I do however have a thoery. It is a rather disturbing theory, but a theory nonetheless. I think the Bears are laying down a league best smoke screen. I think they are so hot on Andre Woodson that they think if they ignore him completely nobody he might still be around by the time the third round comes.
This is just a theory and I pray to Papa Bear himself that there is absolutely no truth to it, but it is currently floating through my head right now, so if it by some chance happened you heard it hear first and Mel Kiper Jr. can bow down to me.

That's hilarious, WCG.
It's amazing that at the end of the regular season, he was still being touted as a Top 15 pick with "perhaps the most potential" of the Big 3. If the Top 5 were Ryan, Brohm, Woodson, Henne and Flacco, I'd be least excited about Henne, but would be satisfied with any. I think they're in a good position at this point.

I want Flacco

The problem is
We have seen Grossman play lights out, then he sucks, then he plays average and we give him another year.
Orton has shown signs, but we still don't know if he can play at this level. We need more than 175 yards, 1TD and 1INT, especially with this running game.
Whoever we draft could very well start this year.

Flacco - 1st Rounder?
found it on Rotoworld, but says that at least one scout thinks he's the best QB in the draft and probably put himself in the first round.
Welcome to the Bears, Chad Henne!!

Flacco 1st round

Their two first
I don't think it is likely, but in theory it probably would work.

I've been thinking the same thing

Not bad
Say the Texans at 18 or the Eagles at 19 want him, but think the Lions or Cardinals will take him first. To go from 14 to 18 is a 200-point swing, which would net us their third-round pick (~180 points) in addition to their first-rounder.
In your scenario, Flacco might be a good fit at Dallas' lowest first-round pick (#28), but the problem is Angelo likes to trade down for MORE picks, and trading with Dallas would LOSE us a pick, most likely.

Depends how Angelo handles it
Their two firsts. So we lose one second day pick, but we get a first. We can either trade one to pick up more than the 6th or we can use both 1sts and trade back in the third. There is always tons of movement in the 3-4 rounds.

SF Trade
You're right that the points work, I think we might need to toss in our 5th rounder to gget it within 10 points or so

Not a bad idea
Better than buying high on Henne, who had exactly ONE great game all year, and is clearly riding the Brady coattails.
One (unrelated) prediction I've heard is that Angelo's banking on trading down a few spots in the first to pick up an extra third. With three thirds, he can grab at least one of each at WR, RB, QB and OT in the first three rounds. Not such a bad idea, since the good offensive linemen are pretty bunched up, quality-wise, after the best 2 or 3.

The problem is the depth in this draft
I think the only real way we are going to move back is if somebody starts slipping. If like some are predicting Dorsey starts falling, somebody might deal to get him. Clady is high on a lot of boards, it is possible if he is available at 14 somebody might want to move up. I just don't know how likely it is.

Woodson is the prize qb

Minor correction
Also, what do UK basketball players have to do with Andre Woodson? Some how Kentucky breeds winners? How about Rex Chapman? Didn't UK basketball nearly get the death penalty?
This is football not basketball.

Big Ben 2nd behind Brady in front of Peyton
Big Ben had more touchdowns, less interceptions, his passer rating was 104.1 and Peyton's was 98.0.
I'm not saying by any means that Ben is a better qb than Peyton, just last year his numbers were better and he was ranked second. Peyton has had 4 perfect passer ratings in his career, Ben has had 3, and Tom Brady 1. Ben had those numbers dispite being sacked 47 times so you can guess what the steelers are looking for in the draft. Have a good day everbody and keep warm.
