Joe Flacco Is A Pipe Dream For The Bears
Be sure to get in on the 4th Annual WCG Mock Draft. We still need participants.
Delaware QB Joe Flacco was so impressive at his Pro Day work out that one AFC scout says he will go in the first round. But wait it gets better.
There are some saying teams have him ranked above Matt Ryan. Matt Ryan on some mocks is projected as the overall #1 pick, yet Flacco is higher?
I predicted Flacco would go in the first just due to people trying to get him before Chicago or even Miami, but now for the Bears to get him they might have to use the #14 on him. Unreal!
So now I have to pose the question, is he worth it to you? Would you take him over Clady/Baker/Otah/Williams or Rashard Mendenhall?
What's more if you are against Flacco at 14, what QB would you like the Bears to take? Michigan QB Chad Henne would be the likely next target, but I know there are as many here that don't like him as there are those who do.
Does this mean my Andre Woodson theory is going to bear fruit?

My ranking would be...
no way id take
Flacco's move
At some point, people are going to remember he played at Delaware.
His stats are comparable to Woodson's, except Woodson played against ranked teams every week, and Flacco played against Rhode Island and Northern Iowa. And if you look at his highlight tape, he throws behind his receivers a lot---on his highlight tape.
If we could get Woodson in the second round, that would be pretty fortunate. I'd certainly take that over Flacco.
Not too bad
Lineman, please
If we could get Flacco with our second-round pick, I say go for it, but let another team pay for the hype with a higher pick.
For the record, I'd say no to Mendenhall at 14 too. The difference between a mid-first-round RB and a 4th-round-RB is much smaller than the difference between his OT counterparts.
Football is won at lost at the line, and there's no better proof of that than this year's Super Bowl winners.
I wouldn't complain even if Angelo spent his first FIVE picks on linemen.

Revisionist history
He actually had a few good years in the pros, but they were few and far between.
this from a Cowherd fan
They guy had a cannon for an arm and had the 'quick release' that they always look for.
I'm not saying he was going to be as good as Dan Marino, but A. he generally played on crappy teams and b. was a headcase. He was a jerk and didn't dedicate himself they way he should have. He would have been a pretty good player if he applied himself more.

Sweet
I can't believe they'd go after any more FA WR's now. So they get: Booker, Lloyd, Bradley, Hester, rookie. I suppose it has potential to be decent if Lloyd and Bradley breakout, but it could also be horribly, horribly bad.
Let's not forget the two best WR's will be new to the Ron Turner's "system" and that the gameplan changes depending on the QB. I expect a lot of ugly routes next year.
Brandon Lloyd
I know I'm in the minority...
Along with that, in my fantasy scenario, in our first round we don't take anybody, because we've traded that along with one of our thirds for Marion Barber III. Given that we're likely to draft a RB in the first anyway, at least if Mendenhall is available and we don't burn it on Flacco, it just makes sense to me to take an ideal starter for the team who's a proven player, especially since all we really -lose- is a third round pick, and we have two as-is.
So I don't care much who we take as a QB- someone with a good head on his shoulders and some patience to develop into something.

i'm there with ya
also, whoever flacco has in his pre-draft camp deserves a raise because i don't know how you go from playing at deleware st. and being projected as a 3rd or 4th rounder to moving into the top 15, but that is a hell of a publicity team he has.
